About me

The first step is the hardest step and I am excited that you chose to participate in counseling services. I believe that you know more about yourself than anyone else ever will. You possess the power to effect change in your own life. I am excited to walk with you in your journey to a better understanding of who you are, what you want to change and ultimately how to obtain what you want out of life.

My name is Robin Fore Martin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, with supervision credentials (LPC-S) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral (TF-CBT) therapist in the state of Virginia. I earned my graduate degrees from Old Dominion University and Liberty University. I have worked in the mental health and substance use fields for over fifteen years. My experience includes individuals from age four years old to ninety-six. I have worked with people in all walks of life to address symptoms of depression, anxiety, self-harm, substance use, trauma, sexual orientation and gender identity as well as family and relationship functioning. I have also worked in a variety of settings from office to emergency room, homes, jail and academic locations. I practice a blend of therapies, specifically focused on the needs of each individual. My belief is that therapy should be approached in a holistic manner, treating the entire individual with exploration of the mind, body and spirit. Acceptance of self is primary and provides the channel to move forward with change in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Remember what you are feeling today does not dictate what you experience tomorrow. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you and I look forward to talking with you soon!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Robin Fore-Martin. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Working with Robin felt like talking with a smart, wise, family member that has your best interest at heart. She is very sweet but also no-nonsense and I love that. She always made sure that I was putting my own needs first and making sure I was setting boundaries. She is a great listener, I loved working with Robin on relationship issues I was having. And if we had a week where I didn’t need to work on anything and I just wanted to talk she was open for that too.

Robin is amazing! I have seen several counselors and therapists before, and I’ve never felt like they understood me or where I was coming from. Robin makes me feel seen and heard and gives such incredible advice. I always have peace of mind after I talk with her.

Robin has helped me through some of the darkest times of my life by guiding me and giving a perspective of experiences I had not considered so I could properly heal my trauma better. She’s given me tools that I will use in every opportunity needed, and I am so grateful for her, she is professional but also so warm and personable.
