About me

I was a licensed a clinical psychologist and professor in Chicago for 11 years before I moved to Atlanta where I continued both for ten years. In those 30 years I've specialized in the well-being of people who identify as African-Americans.
In the last three years I have focused on holistic mental health. I emphasize on the connection between mind and body, and on spirit as my clients understand it. I feel obligated to work with African-Americans because they have historically been underserved, so my practice is reserved mainly for people of that heritage.
I see life as a series of phases, each with its own unique challenges. These challenges require new knowledge and life skills. I don’t see race as the only lens to use in life; I see my clients as humans pursuing (and struggling with) well-being, love, career, prosperity and joy. Distress results from injustice originating from within and from without.
As a psychologist, my aim is to assist people in exploring the knowledge and essential life skills necessary for their well-being. With practice and patience, new insights and a new outlook develops. So does self-empathy and confidence. The feeling of empowerment provides what it takes to make critical decisions needed to attain the that measure of joy and meaningful life you deserve.

I think Dr. Watts is the best therapist I’ve had. As long as therapy is in the cards for me I’d like for him to be my therapist. He offers his insights and is also open to different ways of thinking about issues that come up for me. The best therapist in my opinion is someone who is open to learning and growing with you and I believe he does that well.
