About me

My education includes two Masters Degrees, specifically Educational Psychology (Counseling & Guidance) and Clinical Social Work, as well as, a Master level Certificate in Addictions Counseling. I am also certified in Cognitive Restructuring and Challenge Course (Ropes Course) therapy. In addition, I have been trained by Dr Daniel Amen with the Amen Clinics as to the effects of trauma and substance use on the brain and how that can and does alter the personality of the individual.

I am licensed in Utah and Nevada, as both a Clinical Social Worker and Addictions Counselor. Including my years as a School District Psychologist and Trade School Administrator, I have over 35 years experience as a counselor and psycho-therapist for adolescents, adults and families. I have worked with substance abusing &/or addicted adults and their families in residential, intensive outpatient and educational treatment settings. I have considerable experience providing therapy for various issues including, but not limited to mental/behavioral health social work and relationship counseling. I also provide “Intervention” services for families of treatment resistant individuals, and formerly served as an Educational Consultant and Program Advisor to families searching for the best out-of-home placement for their loved ones, be it adolescent, young adult, or adult.

Although I primarily work with adult clientele, my experience as a School District Psychologist provided an opportunity to work with students demonstrating many types of learning disabilities, i.e. ADD/ADHD, reading, math, and written language disabilities, and many psychological disorders. My training in academic and cognitive testing provides an understanding of Special Education issues, as well as, additional psychological testing which may need further interpretation for proper treatment and/or placement.

My background and varied experiences have provided me the opportunity to develop exceptional abilities and attributes gaining respect throughout the community, as well as, increasing my perception and knowledge in the field of treatment and recovery. I have worked closely with Ecclesiastical Leaders, Families, Attorneys, Courts, Juvenile and Adult Probation and Parole in Northern Arizona, Southern Nevada and Southern Utah counties. My areas of expertise include:

* Addictions (Alcohol/Drug, Gambling, Internet, other)
* Depression
* Anxiety
* Marital and Premarital Counseling
* Domestic Violence & Anger Management
* Parenting
* ADHD
* Family Counseling & Coaching
