About me

I am licensed in Arkansas with 6 years of professional work experience and 4 years of case management experience. I have worked in a multitude of clinical settings including outpatient, school-based, inpatient treatment for teenagers with substance abuse disorders, inpatient acute, residential care, as well as transitional living facilities, and intensive outpatient. Working in all these different settings has allowed me to collaboratively treat a remarkably diverse population of people, whose mental health issues have ranged from mild to severe.

This has allowed me to gain experience in helping clients develop and utilize the skills needed to manage more adaptively the following: stress, anxiety, family conflicts, trauma, abuse, anger management, depression, psychosis, relationship issues, communication problems, low self-esteem, and ADHD. I also have a long history of working with the LGBTQIA2S+ community, whether it be providing resources, offering individual counseling, or family counseling. Throughout most of my career, I have worked predominately with minority groups. This is something extremely near and dear to me as I believe that everyone deserves access to quality mental health treatment.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.

My style of therapy is eclectic. I adapt my therapeutic approach and counseling theories to best suit the client I am working with at the time. While I do enjoy using cognitive-behavioral and client-centered techniques, I am a firm believer that therapy is not a one size fits all box. I try not to cage myself into one specific theoretical approach. I also pride myself on continually developing my multicultural competencies to gain a better understanding of my client's cultures and communities.

Taking the first step in signing up for therapy can be intimidating and it takes courage and inner-personal strength. Getting started on treatment is an accomplishment in and of itself. I am excited that you have decided to start this journey. Whether it is with me or another therapist, I am proud of you for taking the first step.

I am an Arkansas native, who recently moved to Louisiana to pursue my Physician Assistant degree. I am a full-time student and therapist. I have two adorable French bulldogs Birdie and Archie. When I am not working or studying, I can be found in yoga, swimming, cooking, listening to live music, or exploring my new home state.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Rustee Pruitt. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Rustee allows me to be in control of my own therapy plan which is huge for me.

Rustee has a really nice approach. She has been very "go with the flow" and let me talk about whatever is on my mind. But when I ask for insight or have nothing in particular to talk about, she's great at steering the conversation. She's also sent me resources I've asked for and had been very patient. Rustee rocks!

I’ve only had a two or three sessions with Rustee so far but I haven’t been disappointed in any of my sessions, it’s mostly been introductions and learning about my mental health struggles thus far, however it’s been taken at a great pace and with lots of patience, support, and insight. I feel positive thinking about my future therapy sessions with Rustee.

Rustee has helped me feel comfortable sharing whatever concerns I have, even if they differ from what we're working on she encourages me to talk about whatever I feel in the moment is most important but also has the bigger issues in the back of her mind ready to connect the dots for me and help me navigate difficult/bigger things. I feel very open with her and feel completely unjudged and safe.
