About me

Sometimes life throws us challenges both through past and present experiences, which knock us off our feet and we become engulfed in uncertainty, worry and fear. It could be that we start to doubt ourselves and feel that we are not good enough or we are unable to cope, leading to anxiety and depression. Whatever you are going through, it deserves care, attention and compassion and I believe that you have the inner wisdom to work through these issues as you are the person that knows yourself better than anyone. Together, we can explore those experiences at your own pace to make sense of how you feel and find the way forward. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches such as Person Centred, Compassion Focused, Trauma Informed CBT and Solution Focused skills and tailor them accordingly as each client is unique. Ultimately, it is about your journey of personal growth leading to greater self awareness whilst feeling more at ease and in control of your life.

Counselling is not always a smooth process and finding the right Counsellor will be a very important step for you. It will be a brave step towards your journey of self discovery and empowerment and I would be privileged to walk alongside it with you.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Ruth Mykoo. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

As an aspiring psychologist, I have noticed a variety of qualities in Ruth which are not present in all therapists. From my understanding, a significant flaw in modern therapy is attempting to fit a client/patient into a system/structure/ or approach which is a very reductive approach to an individual's problems as the therapy is then focused on following a structure as opposed to attempting to help the client/patient with their mental health.

By contrast, Ruth has a great understanding of various different therapeutic approaches that she bends and adapts to the client's problems and needs as opposed to making the person's experiences fit into a model. Thus, Ruth's approach feels more organic in comparison to other therapists which whom I interacted in the past.

Beyond Ruth's therapeutic approach, she is a very caring and compassionate therapist, with a great cultural and social understanding who (if needed) can also challenge an individual on their maladaptive thoughts and or behaviours. in contrast to other therapists, Ruth is a very understanding and non-judgmental therapist, a claim which I stand by strongly as a result of my first-hand experience, where I have shared heavy topics and Ruth was understanding and helped guide me through the process.
