Ryan Weiner, LCSW
About me
I understand asking for help can be difficult, scary, empowering, exciting, hard, and new all at the same time. You may think asking for help makes your weak, but I am here to reframe this belief. Asking for help or seeking out a counselor makes you resilient and strong. I am a strengths based and client centered clinician, meaning I believe you are always the expert in your own life. It can be challenging to see yourself as an expert in your life when you feel lost, confused, overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, angry, or sad, but I believe we can work together to help you uncover the path out of whatever darkness you may be feeling.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of Colorado. I have worked extensively with individuals experiencing profound mental health difficulties, both inside and outside the criminal justice system. In my private practice, I specialize in the treatment of individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as mood disorders. I am also proficient in working with clients who are challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, mania, substance use disorders, and disordered eating. Much of my training has been focused on working with individuals who are or who have been incarcerated or who are trying to reintegrate into the community. I have also worked with athletes at various stages in their careers, from youth just beginning to explore sports, to the most elite athletes, and athletes in or contemplating retirement. I have ample experience working with individuals who have experienced job related trauma including law enforcement personnel, firefighters, nurses, and other first responders. Lastly, I am passionate about working with individuals who identify as LGBTQAI or individuals questioning their identities. I have worked extensively with clients who identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, agender, and many other clients who identify as gender queer. I also have experience working with clients with a variety of sexual identifies, including queer and non-queer folks who are part of the Kink community. Whether your current struggles relate to your sexuality/gender identity or not, having a clinician who understands and affirms your identity is critical when you are doing work on yourself.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on Environmental Justice from Mount Holyoke College in 2004. I earned my MA in Coaching and Sports Administration with a focus on Sports Psychology in 2006 from Montclair State University. I received my MSW degree with a focus on Mental Heath from the University of Denver in 2017.
My goal is to help you lead your best life, to help you become aware of and take steps toward fulfillment (whatever that looks like for you), to establish boundaries, to accept love, to find your passion and purpose, to help you feel present in your own life. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities including but not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy.
I am excited to work with you and look forward to helping you lead your best life!

Ryan is a very skilled counselor. He helps me to understand myself in-depth and often poses questions in ways that helps me find direction based on my values.

Ryan has been so amazing as a counselor so far. I immediately felt so understood and validated in our first meeting and it has only gotten better. He seems to get it and is so good in his practice of empowering me to help myself and providing great support. I have been so grateful working with him so far.
