Hi! My name is Samantha Nilsson and I am a Licenced Clinical Social Worker in the state of CT where I live. I have been practicing as a therapist for almost 9 years and over the course of that time, I have worked with many individuals struggling with various needs. The majority of my early career was spent working with addiction issues and helping those struggling move toward sobriety. Over the more recent few years I have been working with adults in a community mental health clinic and I see clients who have a variety of needs. Life transitions such as aging, dealing with illness, getting through college and building a new life as an adult are things I help people with quite often! I strive to help individuals manage the stress, anxiety and sometimes depression that comes with these changes and provide them with the tools to not only cope but thrive. I also have a private practice where I work with adults and in particular, specialize in perinatal mental health. That is to say, I help women through all stages of motherhood including pre-pregnancy through birth and beyond. I have a passion for helping women cope with postpartum mood disorders and the various other challenges that come with starting a family, including loss. My style as a therapist is one of openness and compassion as I strive to make therapy sessions a safe and comfortable place for clients. I want my clients to feel validated in their feelings and reassured and I also aim to provide the tools and skills needed to help my clients achieve the life they want. I truly believe everyone has the innate strengths to achieve their goals and I just help you rediscover them!
