About Me

My name is Samantha Schmitt LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I have five years of experience in professional counseling, and approximately three years of experience prior to providing addictions counseling and in home community support work with families. My expertise is related to the management of challenging behaviors, addictions counseling, working with individuals who have experienced who have experienced trauma, and general mental health problems.
My therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, where I help others understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Additionally, I take a wholesome approach to look at one's environmental and behavioral factors that may be adjusted or adapted to in order to increase positive experiences within their lives.
Life can be so difficulty at times, but I'm here to help you see how it's still absolutely beautiful. I'm here to listen. I'm here to help guide you. I'm here to help you make the changes you want to make because I believe your life can be whatever you want it to be. We all have the power to make the changes, but sometimes we need support and guidance. It's my life's mission to provide just that.

I refer many people to BetterHelp because I was so skeptical about therapy. I thought I could figure it out all by myself but sometimes we have to trust that there is better help out there and that is okay. Samantha has helped me in numerous ways with my relationships and help me see a better perspective on anything I have trouble with. I value Samantha because she has helped guide me in a better way of living and loving others and loving myself ultimately. I would recommend Samantha and BetteHelp and I do to just about everyone I meet. I am like the child who found something so valuable to them they want to share it with the world. I came to Samantha at an extremely bad place and time in my life and she stayed calm and collected the whole way, she motivated me to do the right things instead of falling deeper where I was. She is an excellent therapist and I’m glad I got the chance to be counseled by her. I am now in a better place because she didn’t give up on me and understands how I felt, especially with my journals. Feel lucky to have a conversation with this amazing therapist.

Sam has been the best therapist I’ve ever had. Every session I’ve been to I’ve felt heard, understood, safe, and supported. I’ve felt such relief knowing I have a supportive therapist to look forward to speaking with through all life has to offer. She’s never not been fully present to support me when needed, and to celebrate the small wins with me alongside my journey. She’s helped me immensely to work towards my goals of finding freedom & peace. I cannot say enough great things about her.

Could not have asked for a better counselor! She brings this sort of vibe that helps you feel safe to speak whatever may be on your mind, and does absolutely all she can to help!

It has only been a couple of weeks since starting therapy with Samantha, but I can honestly say she is so easy to talk to. I feel safe when in session with her. And she doesn't try to push me into talking about anything that is uncomfortable to me. I'm very happy to have found a fantastic therapist!

Samatha had helped me so much, she is ALWAYS there when I need an emergency session or if I message her outside of a session. She gives me good and new advice that I use daily. She makes me feel comfortable and I NEVER feel any judgement towards myself.

Samantha helps me to set goals on things I need to work through while also providing a safe space to listen to me. I feel seen and heard in each session and am learning coping mechanisms to help me. I highly recommend her.

Samantha has changed my life, and I am not saying that lightly. Samantha is not only kind and genuine, she is also incredibly professional. She has provided me with so many useful mental tools, and has truly helped me learn so much about myself. She is always positive and empathetic, but also incredibly insightful and honest. I went from putting off therapy for months to looking forward to my weekly session, specifically because I get to talk things out with Sam. I feel relief each and every session. She has done an incredible job being open and communicative while simultaneously setting healthy boundaries for our therapist-client relationship. She treats me with nothing but respect. She is so patient, and so understanding. She is so good at recognizing my needs, and allowing them to dictate the flow of our sessions (which is important when you consider that sometimes I don’t even know what I need). Our sessions have taught me so much about balance, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have found a therapist like her. While it's a bummer that we are many states apart, and I may never get to thank her in person, every session feels as if we are right there in the room together.

Samantha is great I can almost feel her calm.energy through communication with texts and the poor women read through pages and pages of my issues. I don't know how she does it. I just let it all out and she responded in a fair amount of time but that's coming from someone who works in Dr office so I get it. I also respect that she has to have time to herself on the weekends, we all do! Shes awesome its.nice to speak to someone that knows nothing about you, any of your family or friend's. It's been very helpful
