I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Kentucky who has experience serving a multitude of populations throughout my career, including couples, and adults. I received my Master's degree in Professional Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College in 2011. Prior to earning this degree and licensure, I engaged in a number of experiences throughout my life which has given me a greater understanding and empathy with individuals and clients. I have engaged with individuals from a variety of settings, including urban and rural, Christian and Athiest, Appalachian and Multi-cultural backgrounds, and many others in between. I have worked throughout my career in both public/non-profit agencies and in private practice, which has allowed me to meet individuals on the journey through his/her own personal story.
My role as your counselor is not to rescue from your emotions, but rather help you gain mastery over your emotions by developing a sense of self that is empowered and autonomous, develop self-control, have a growing knowledge through psycho-education, learn coping strategies, build a stronger sense of self-reliance while learning from and working through current and past life experiences. It is my goal to be with you through this process with non-judgment, encouragement, and unconditional positive regard for you as a respected and unique individual. I use an eclectic, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to therapy. This allows me to engage with you on an individual basis, and take your strengths into account during sessions.

Samuel has been a consistent voice of reason during a difficult time. I found our conversations helpful without being too intrusive. I never felt blamed for my problems but I did feel empowered to focus on what I could control.

I was afraid that just being assigned someone it would be hard to converse and feel comfortable, but it didn’t take long to get there with Samuel!

He is the best therapist I’ve had in my life. I have a dark past and Sam is able to dive into it and heal me from my trauma.

Sam is professional, conscientious, and impresses me with the creative analogies he uses to get a point across. He's also a great conversationalist and able to engage in serious topics or funny stories. Another reason I continued with Sam is because he thoroughly reads and responds to my walls of text and shares helpful worksheets.

Sam is great, i've been with him for 1.5 years now and he's helped me understand myself in ways that I didn't think were possible.

Sam is very encouraging and helpful. I was extremely anxious and scared for this process, considering I had never talked with a therapist before. He is a good listener and connects with personal experiences. He uses a lot of different tools to help you and give you information in between sessions. He responds quickly and feels trustworthy and kind.

This app and Sam have been great tool for me to add to my "recovery" with anxiety. I still have a long ways to go but Sam has been very supportive, I can tell he truly cares, he's compassionate, and he is great an encouraging and being positive. I never thought therapy would be beneficial, but it really is!

Samuel Staggs is professional, calm. and reassuring. I did not have much faith in this process but I am a believer. I am far from a simple case and have multiple issues. He keeps me on track and gives me hope for the future. Being a APRN made me skeptical, I am a believer. I am 61 and if I could be a cheer leader for Samual I would. Such a amazing young man

I was a bit worried when I got Samuel as a counselor. I have trauma with males and we seemed complete opposites. I can’t describe how wrong I was to worry. He is the most unbiased, down to earth individual. If you want someone to get on your level, but maintain professional methods, Samuel is a perfect fit. He responds fast and is punctual when it comes to your care.

Samuel has been amazing. He responds quickly and thoroughly. He gives me external resources (i.e. YouTube videos) to explore which have helped tremendously. I am still new to therapy in general but I've already benefited a lot.
