Sarah Yonan

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania, with over 10 years of experience working with youth and families in a varieties of school settings (primary, secondary and university level). After earning my Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut, I worked in an alternative school setting. Most recently I worked as a consultant to the Hawaii Department of Education. I have experience working with clients in areas including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, conflict resolution, life skills, parenting skills, relationship dynamics, trauma.

My counseling style is both nurturing and supportive. Having worked with diverse populations, I feel strongly about creating a non-judgmental, open and understanding environment. Each person enters the counseling relationship with their own unique story and needs. It is essential to listen and learn, while supporting and empowering the individual to grow in a manner that bests fits them. Although I do not hold fast to any particular modality I do draw from a variety of different sources. The most influential are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Strengths Based Perspective, and Solution Focused Therapy.

I look forward to the opportuity to hear your story and work with you.

If there is one word to characterize Sarah, I would say is that she is authentic. I truly feel that there is a strong interest in helping me work through my issues. She is supportive and frequently touch bases with me, which I have not experienced with prior counselors.

Sarah has been so supportive and professional during our sessions. I had been going through a very hard time and from the moment we started working together I immediately felt at ease. She is kind and understanding and makes sure to guide the conversation in a way that gets me genuinely thinking about ways to approach each obstacle. I am so glad that we were matched and I look forward to our sessions each week!
