I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Hawaii as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona. I have over 6 years of experience in the mental health field. My work as a therapist invites people to return to their essential wholeness, to shed false identities and realize the truth of who they really are. Problems are seen as opportunities for life changing insights and awakenings; the doorway to enduring peace and happiness. Stories are seen through and emotions met with the deepest acceptance.
I had lived in Hawaii for over 6 years and graduated with my MS in counseling psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu. I'm now back living in Phoenix, Arizona where I was born and raised. I’ve worked with a wide variety of populations and cultures of people in Hawaii and in Oregon where I worked with homeless veterans. I’m a military veteran myself and I’ve also served as a municipal firefighter-paramedic in Virginia.
I’ve had a wide-variety of life experiences consisting of many "ups" and some "downs". I’ve learned a lot about life over the years through my own direct insights into the nature of reality and discovering my true nature. These shifts have come from being open and curious in seeing more of the truth behind my human experience and who/what I really am.
I invite you to see the possibility of discovering peace of mind and happiness through the recognition of your true nature.

Sean really understands my problems and empathizes accordingly, every time. His suggestions are always relevant and he never ceases to help me through whatever it is I have brought with me that week!
Sean is my first counsellor on this platform, and my second overall. And he's been extremely helpful, listening to me, empathising with me and giving me advice on how I can manage my anxiety. I've never felt a such a good week in a while since I got into therapy sessions with him. I'm so grateful I was matched with him for my counsellor. And I highly recommend his expertise that he could really help you if you're struggling with anxiety especially with intrusive thoughts which are debilitating.
Sean helped me step outside of my own perspective to see my issues in a new light. He then helped me build the tools necessary to resolve them. I greatly appreciate the work he has done and how it has improved my life.
Sean is great to talk to and is so relatable that you feel like you're talking to an old friend. Therapy has helped me be more aware of myself and how I was feeding into my own anxiety with my own habits. I've been able to show others close to me that this is a wonderful app and the people with BetterHelp really know what they're doing and care for their patients.
Thank you, Sean!
Sean Gardner was extremely helpful as my counselor. His easy going personality made it easy for me to open up to, and his insights and perspectives were pivotal in how I worked through the issues I was experiencing.
Sean is a very good counselor and just a great person. He's also very knowledgeable and understanding, and helped me discover certain things about myself that changed my life. I highly recommend Sean for a counselor to anyone.
Sean is very kind, wise and casual. I was very apprehensive about starting therapy and his laid back demeanor made it so easy. He allows me to vent about everything and will ask thought provoking questions while also checking in with my personal goals. Sean is also very open minded!!
I’ve never been to a therapist before but I’m so glad Sean was my first one! He was so easy to talk to and gave me so many helpful tools to deal with my anxiety.
