About me

ABOUT ME

Today you are one step closer to a new you, where you feel empowered, and on a positive path to growth and well-being. You want to be safe and protected.  You want help in a way that won’t expose you to risk, harm, or ridicule.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker in practice for the past forty years. My education, (MSW, CAS Ed.,) experience, (40 Yrs.), and training have all been directed at offering the best treatment options that I know how to provide.

In this era of COVID-19, I work with people exclusively via tele-health protocols.

You want peace of mind. You want to feel good again. You have worked hard, you’ve struggled, and you’ve endured. But, sometimes, you need a little help, support, encouragement, and understanding.

Perhaps you, or a loved one, has been injured while working or driving. Perhaps you've been in a combat experience, or you’ve been assaulted or molested. You may have experienced a long-term, and unresolved emotional trauma. You are being harassed at home, work, or school. Or you may have observed these things happening to others and they have affected you.

You are unhappy and often find yourself unable to find satisfaction in even the most basic of activities or relationships. You may feel anxious, despondent, depressed, morose, or confused. You may be fearful, or isolated and feel alone. You may even be concerned about changes in your children's performance in school, behavior, or attitudes. Particularly if they are tweens or teens.

You do NOT have to continue feeling this way. Often it feels as if almost everyone else you see seems to be coping with life better than you are. It is definitely possible for you to feel better than you do now.

As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential. You want to lead a life that is more fulfilling and which you want to celebrate. While we can't change difficult situations from your past or present, we can work together to help you better understand and resolve many types of challenges in your life.

By applying complimentary therapy approaches and techniques, we will work together to reveal long-standing emotional and behavioral patterns, or negative perceptions, that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life

I know that mental health problems are real, painful and can have serious consequences for the individual and loved ones.  The numbers of domestic violence, alcohol and drug problems, social isolation, suicide, and other mental health issues has skyrocketed since the advent of COVID-19.  These problems also often occur with medical conditions such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and hypertension, among others.  When left untreated, mental health disorders can lead to distress, relationship problems, family conflict, drug/alcohol abuse, school failure, violence, and in severe cases, suicide. I can often help you address many of these conditions including:

Depression and Anxiety
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Grief and Loss
Low Self-Esteem
History of Abuse / Trauma
Anger Management
Behavior Problems
Bipolar Disorder
Psychological Problems Relating to HIV/AIDS
Coping with New or Chronic Medical Conditions
Marital / Family Problems
Substance Abuse Disorders
Personality Disorders

To better understand the therapy process, here is a brief description of what to expect from therapy.

The initial session(s) will largely consist of obtaining what is known as a Psycho-social history. This will include information relating to why you are seeking my assistance.  You and I will review your Family, Educational, Social, Vocational, and Medical history as it pertains to you.  We will discuss your presenting problems, exploring your thoughts, feelings, and activities which may have a bearing on why you sought treatment.  We will also determine what your expectations of treatment are and what outcomes you expect.

You and I will work together to formulate treatment goals and objectives which are attainable and meaningful to you.  This is a part of therapy which is called, "Treatment Planning".  As we proceed you will be able to clearly measure your progress in attaining your goals utilizing a variety of assessment tools.  We will continually reassess and refine these goals and objectives during the course of treatment as reasonable and appropriate.

If you've experienced trauma, (As have 60% of the population), you can access a Description of Exposure Therapy which is specially designed for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I operate on the principle that you are the best, "Expert" on understanding your life experiences.

I have helped many others with their concerns; with experience, understanding and compassion.  I have worked with hundreds of folks just like you, (since 1980), with similar pain and discomfort.  Many with the same hopes fears, hurts, disappointments, injuries, confusion, tiredness, and despair.

If this seems like something you wish to explore further contact me on this platform or by accessing my website . I will get back to you within 24-48 hours.

I can assure you that I will treat you with courtesy, respect, and the highest standards of my professional experience and privacy.

The worst thing that may happen to you if you do not get help right now is that you will miss the opportunity to begin to feel better. Unless you get help from either myself, or other professional, you are likely to continue to feel isolated. To feel despondent and depressed. To lose sleep. To feel anxious. To feel alone. To feel afraid.

Together, you and I, will begin to get to know one another and start to work on beginning the process of healing.  Your goal is to feel better and I may be able to help you do that.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Seth Krauss. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Seth has been amazing on BetterHelp and we really worked through some major issues that I have been having. He’s been a great confidant and offered a lot of advice and techniques to help with my relationships and daily routines.

Working with Seth has been an interesting exploration of my past. By approaching situations in a clinical, straightforward manner, he's allowed me to consider different angles than I had previously noticed, and pushed me to try new things in order to solve old problems. I'll admit that at times it's been difficult to make my analytical side slow down long enough to allow my emotional or relational side take over, but when I've been able to do so, it's been useful. I've slowly begun creating habits that I believe will be useful to me for a long time in the future.

Seth has been very helpful in guiding me through a difficult time in my life by being understanding of my situation and allowing me to see behavioral patterns that have effected my relationships with others and career. He is compassionate yet direct and holds me accountable to take the steps necessary to make the best decisions for myself. He also offers insight from his personal life experiences that helps put things in perspective.

Dr. Krauss was very kind and helpful. He has a good voice for this line of work, and a wealth of personal and professional advice. Throughout our sessions, he listened attentively and gave me plenty to think about and work on. I appreciate the time he set aside to assist me.

Dr. Krauss has been nothing but super helpful. I truly feel heard and he understands where my thoughts and feelings are going even when I am having trouble understanding myself. I was very nervous starting this experience, but Dr. Krauss makes each session effortless and comfortable.
