About me

As an openly gay, transgender therapist I offer a unique, lived perspective to my clients who are part of the LGBTQIA+. My greatest passion is to help those struggling to make the transition from survival to "thrival". Whether that's through providing therapy for depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or offering support for other experiences such as life transitions, grief/loss, LGBTQIA+ related issues, compassion fatigue, burnout, or any of life's other ups and downs.

I am licensed in Georgia and have worked for a Community Mental Health facility for over 7 years. During my time there I have gained a myriad of experience with mental health issues and disorders. I take a collaborative approach in working with my clients to help them identify and achieve their goals. I incorporate traditional talk therapy in conjunction with other therapeutic modalities. I work with my clients to find the best fit for them, whether that's using Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, or Narrative Therapy.

I'm usually available in the evenings, Monday through Friday, and in the mornings/early afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. If you don't see a time or date that works for you on my schedule, please don't hesitate to message me for other options.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Shaleena Walden. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

In the short time Shaleena Walden has been my therapist, I have been nothing short of impressed with her professionalism, expertise, desire to help me work through the things I think are important as well as suggest different ways she can support me in my journey. She actually asked me what works best for me therapeutically, wow! I feel heard in our sessions, that is important to me. I leave our sessions feeling I’ve learned something about myself, and that I have an ally in this journey.
