About Me

Do you find yourself battling feelings of hopelessness? Are you overwhelmed or facing anxiety due to the matters of your life? Are you doubting yourself? I am here to help you. My name is Shannon Gooch and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have extensive experience working with adults, families, at risk youth and adolescents. I have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. My love for working with people and families in crisis has led me to practice as a therapist. Being a wife and mother has helped me become more relatable. Working in various practice settings has led me to be detail oriented, forward- thinking, and thorough. I strive to provide the same level of service to my clients as I would expect for myself. I am well versed in my profession and take pride in my work. I specialize in complex trauma, depression, stress and anxiety, social skills training and behavior management. My experiences have allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for helping others define their meaning of life and identify purpose.

My approach incorporates assessing the concern and locating practical strategies to empower you to manage your issues. I am focused on helping you adopt skills for self-discovery and development while maintaining success. My approaches are Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused. My goal is to teach you to (A) control irrational thoughts (B) identify the true issues and (C) empower you to identify practical solutions. If irrational thoughts are managed it becomes easier to problem-solve and address the issues. I view counseling as an instrumental tool in helping others become aware of their thoughts, find solutions to their issues and self-regulate their mood.

I am looking forward to partnering with you to help you find solutions.

Shannon has helped me to focus on the root of issues I’m dealing with, offering great advice. She is an incredible listener and she takes great notes as we often revisit statements I make to dive deeper.

I've only just started talking with Shannon, but even in our first live session, she was prepared with really helpful tips for dealing with my panic attacks - practices that I've never thought of myself. She's been super helpful.

I havent been speaking to her for long but so far she is way better than one I was going to in person. He would always forget things I mentioned or go off on things about his past I felt had nothing to do with me. She also is very fast at response so far, and tries to contact me to find out how I am doing when I have not written her in awhile.

Mrs. Shannon Gooch was great to me. She listened and actively participated and would reach out very often to see how I was coming along with the work we had been putting in. She invited me to open doors that would discontinue patterns.
Great counselor!

Her comments are very thoughtful and well thought out. I love her methods and steps that she gives me to practice with in order to help better myself. I've always been hesitant with counselors but it was very easy for me to be totally open and honest on the spot. I am very grateful for her services as they have been a great help to me.
