I sensed a caring individual and a competent therapist even from my first session. But to see the joy in her eyes on my reporting a better week with anxiety, that shows the empathy, you can’t get that in training. I’ve been teaching medical students for decades and this has been the most resounding observation. You can’t teach empathy.
