About me

I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a rich background in social work spanning over 30 years. I have served in various capacities, including as a Combat Medic in the Army, an Air Force Reservist, and ultimately retiring from Active Duty Air Force as a Social Worker. Additionally, I have spent 8 years in private practice before relocating from San Antonio, Texas to the New York area to be closer to my aging family members.

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive expertise in academia, mental health, school counseling, life coaching, critical incident debriefing, and group work. My therapeutic approach is rooted in client-centered care, where I prioritize the needs and goals of my clients. I utilize a range of evidence-based techniques, including Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as Tapping).

In our sessions, I believe in fostering a collaborative environment where we work together to address the challenges you are facing. I assign homework and actively engage in dialogue to ensure progress and growth.

When I started with BetterHelp, I matched with Sharon and initially thought I could always switch if needed but Sharon has been an excellent match right off the bat! She listens and responds, challenges me and reminds me to celebrate the wins. She’s realistic and grounded and I would definitely recommend her.

I’ve only had two sessions so far and it’s going well. She’s very prompt on responding and being on time for pre video sessions. It’s very helpful when she sends me a summary of what we talked about. I feel like a priority when she checks on me in between sessions.

Sharon is patient, kind and understanding, She listens long and hard. She is even able to get me back on track when I ramble on and forget what I’m supposed to be complaining about in the first place !
Sharon’s years of experience clearly show when she asks a few poignant questions to help crystallize, prioritize and focus on, the issue to be dealt with first.
She is clear and on point as she offers professional advice in a relatable, down to earth, and compassionate way.
After our sessions, I feel as if I’ve spoken to a trusted friend who cares about my well being and wants to help me be my best self. I highly recommend her!

I've only had a few sessions thus far with Sharon but it has been an immediate relief to know that I am in good hands. Ms. Sharon is relatable, she started with homework which I like because I NEED a therapist who wants to get to the bottom of my why and I want a therapist who is beyond the textbook. Ms. Sharon makes me want to trust the process and I normally need to know what is what before making a move.

Absolutely love Mrs. Sharon, she is timely and authentic from the first session we had. Her past experience and my current experience coincide so that our sessions are clear and effective. We share the same faith in Christ so all of our conversations are rooted and aligned. Very grateful for Mrs. Sharon and better help for making our sessions so seamless!
