I have always been intrigued by how the mind works and what makes people do the things they do. I was lucky enough to turn that interest into a career and one I am deeply passionate about. I think it also helps that I have no desire to judge anyone but rather a strong desire to help others.
I graduated with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology in 2011, and I have been a licensed psychologist through the state of Texas since 2014. I have an interest in all areas of psychology and have been privileged enough to work with children, adolescents, adults, and aging/older-adult populations. Additionally, I have experience in testing and evaluating within general and forensic populations.
I have enjoyed working with individuals diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and have spent much of my career helping them to develop the skills they need to best function on a daily basis. Through this work, I gained an appreciation for the importance of interpersonal relationships and the acquisition of appropriate communication and social skills.
As I have worked in various populations, I have considerable experience treating disorders with common symptoms such as depression and anxiety. My therapeutic approach, as a result of my diverse career path, is best described as eclectic therapy with client-centered focus. I know that each individual comes into therapy with a unique experience and unique concerns. I believe in meeting the clients where they are and moving at their pace, providing what clients need throughout the course of their personal growth.
Therapy consists of entrusting your most sensitive thoughts and feelings to a person that is a relative stranger. It requires a lot of trust and vulnerability. Nonetheless, therapy has been shown to have benefits for individuals that have committed to the process. I look forward to working with you along your process, and I hope to help you take the steps toward your healthiest and most fulfilled life.

Dr. Snipes is so resourceful and caring. I have found that she is never judgemental and very calming and relatable. She has a solution for everything! My favorite part about Dr. Snipes specifically is her encouragement to take things in stride and handle my own emotions rather than always be afraid and anxious about what others are doing to make me upset. It’s very empowering.

I've been working with Doctor Snipes for going on six months now. When I began talking to her I had hit a new low in my anxiety and depression. I was having breakdowns and I was struggling to find a way out. Doctor Snipes offered a kind, calm and helping hand to pull me back up onto my feet and six months later I find myself a changed person. My outlook on life is different. My demeanor is more cheerful. I'm more hopeful for the future. I'm even sleeping better. Doctor Snipes helped me find comfort in my own head again. I am forever grateful.

Dr. Snipes has helped bring me out of one of the darkest and scariest pits of my life. The way she draws perspective and can give you an orderly picture of the problems as they actually are is truly incredible. I went from not eating for 4 days at a time, little sleep, would not leave my room, and terrifying paranoia, to now having a new apartment, new job prospects, and a regular social life. My interest in my passions has returns. I still struggle with severe anxiety, but with the tools and a frame of “likely probability” that she has shown me, I am able to combat most of my everyday anxieties on my own now. She is by far a big light in my life.

My Doctor being a black woman is so valuable because she understands what I means to traverse multiple layers of oppression in this society. I respect her opinions and advice. This service is expensive for me but she makes it worth every cent because I desperately needed this or something like it. I’m gonna stick with it as long as I can.
