Welcome to BetterHelp. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I have been within the field of altruism at varying capacities since high school. I received a Bachelor of Science-Psychology from Loyola University and a Master of Social Work from UIC-Jane Addams. I love what I do and was blessed to find my passion early in life. My experiences ranges from the medical/hospital arena, to community case management, into individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS, and even employment counseling for individuals experiencing a career transition. I currently provide individual and group therapy to youth and families.
While I have been a professional counselor for just over 14 years, I continue to approach each client situation and make recommendations with a fresh perspective. My treatment approach incorporates techniques of Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) utilizing a Strengths perspective. In utilizing these techniques, I also assist the client to understand their interconnected role and functioning within various systems. All of this to state that I bring a unique balance of academic rigor and high fidelity practice into each session.
In working with clients, I have a simple goal. I hope to assist you to achieve your highest level of functioning so that you can look in the mirror with confidence and fulfillment. I work with your strengths to incorporate non-intrusive techniques. Eventually, these techniques will come natural and you can apply them across various systems. It's not always a simple journey but I will be here to provide tools that will empower you in multiple areas of mental health, emotional and professional functioning.

Life-changing, I see a real difference in my communication skills and my coping strategies
Sheika has been an incredible help this past year I have been on BetterHelp! She is compassionate and level-headed, and she assisted in me successfully learning how to manage my struggles with anxiety and ADHD. She was extremely accommodating to my schedule and I was always able to get an appointment with her at least every couple of weeks. I would definitely recommend Sheika to friends or family using BetterHelp!
