About me

I have had my Masters in Counseling since 1994. I have worked with families, individuals and groups for 27 years. I have provided services in the office and in client homes. I have worked with individuals with various traumas and diagnosis'. I have provided groups for substance abuse, depression, and domestic violence survivors and perpetrators. I am a Certified Trauma Informed Professional working with a number of different traumas.
My focus is on the person centered and trauma informed care. I use what therapeutic modality is appropriate for that individual, I come from a systems theory background, understanding people and events interact with each other. I work with the client to identify a tailored treatment plan with goals agreed upon with the individual client. I am a laid back but a goal focused therapist. I believe in treating individuals focusing on what has happened to them. I am warm and interactive with a good sense of humor.
Therapy focuses on change and it takes courage to want to change as well as make that first step to go to therapy. Having that courage to take that first step I will be here to support and empower you in where you want to go.
I look forward o working with you.

I never thought online therapy for trauma was possible or could be so productive but Shelly makes it the best journey. While the topics and conversation can be difficult, she creates a safe space for discussion and helps me work through things at the right pace for me. I feel like I’ve come so far in such a short time bc of her style of therapy.

I have been having sessions with Shelly for the last 7 months. I have worked specifically on establishing boundaries, developing tools and strategies to help with anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. The sessions and journalling with Shelly has been incredibly helpful. In fact, life changing. I feel much calmer, more in control of the things I can control and I am able to deal with difficult situations in better ways - like never before. I am super grateful and I feel so much better as a human being. Shelly listens, communicates clearly and helps to set realistic goals. I would highly recommend Shelly and her fantastic services'.

Once I found the right counselor, better help is very helpful and I love that I don't have to leave the house. As I am a caregiver that would be impossible.
