I am a professional counselor licensed in Virginia with 6 years of experience working in various settings including schools, in home, and Outpatient. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, substance use issues and the LGBTQ population. I have also helped many people who have experienced trauma and emotional abuse. I consider myself a very spiritual person and like to incorporate spiritual practices into my work though it is not a requirement.
My counseling style is creative, collaborative, and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, rational-emotive, solution focused, gestalt, and person centered counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs and encourage you to communicate when things aren't working so that we can adjust our goals or approach at any time throughout the counseling process.
If you have made it this far you are open to taking steps towards making changes in your life and I am here to provide the encouragement and support you need to start this journey.
I look forward to working with you!

Sheri is much more than a counselor. She is your best friend, your auntie, your guider, and will treat you with a tremendous amount of respect. I feel like I am able to tell her my inner most thoughts and feeling without judgement. She gives me amazing advice, feedback, and knowledge of different tools to help me gain peace and continue my path to healing.

I’ve been working with Sheri regularly for a few months now and have been having a great experience. She consistently checks in with me about specific different things that are going on in my life each week and follows up on how they’re going. I really appreciate her attention to detail, and the time she takes to remember specific details about the various people in my life and life experiences I’ve had. Whenever I send her a message she always makes sure she explains how she interpreted my message, to make sure we are on the same page regarding the feelings I was trying to convey to her. She’s sent me a few worksheets to help me document some of my internal obstacles, and then has talked through the worksheets with me, which has helped me look at my issues more positively and realize ways that I can overcome them.
