About me
I am a Hawaii Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a fairly young practice. I attended school late in life, and understand life's developmental issues. I am a conservative Christian, and look forward to helping anyone who is seeking help. I am not judgmental, and can work with any population. Most of my work over the past 8 years has been with people with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). I believe this has given me a strong base to work with clients from all walks of life, facing all kinds of issues. I have been certified in trauma, anger management, and dementia care (not current certifications). I use a variety of techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, relaxation and breathing techniques, among others. I believe that people know themselves better than anyone, and often know what they need to do, and just need some support and encouragement to move forward in life. I recently located from Hawaii to Missouri, so my availability on my calendar accounts for the time difference from Missouri to Hawaii. I look forward to working with anyone who wants to take steps to better their lives!

I love my therapist, we share the same faith and I don’t have a lot of time to commit to therapy, but she does understand and make it available that I do pay for these services. I am thankful for this experience as my first choice was admitting I need help.

I have never done therapy and this was my first time giving BetterHelp a try. I was matched with Skyla Hammond and during our first session, I felt I was able to open up comfortably to her and not feel any judgement. It was a safe space that she provides and offers during your 1 on 1 with her and she has a welcoming presence that allows you to express yourself freely and openly. I never had thought I would had try out therapy and I’m really glad I was able to match with someone like her. Skyla is really nice, very welcoming, and wants to be there for you in any way possible.
