About me

I am a seasoned counselor who has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other modalities such as DBT. I have earned two master's degrees and write poetry when I have time. As a therapist, I practice solution-oriented therapy and utilize a collaborative approach with clients to deal with life problems.
Many ways exist to view and to achieve solutions as one seeks a life worth living, but each client is unique and needs respect and warmth from the therapist and to regain an appropriate sense of control in their life. In the journey of life, we can have difficulties at times, but these difficulties as they are resolved can lead to considerable new growth and to new possibilities in life. Emotions, thoughts and beliefs are important in life and in therapy – each will be part of the solution and the healing of one's life.
Personal issues, stress levels, spiritual concerns, Relational issues of a couple or family are all areas where conflict can develop, and these areas can profit from therapeutic intervention in a solution-oriented, warm, and collaborative atmosphere of therapy. I have served clients in various capacities, always with the goal of helping others to see the wonder of their lives and of the lives of others. I find that due to the flux of our culture, achieving our goals can be difficult. Currently, Great Britian has a Minister of Loneliness because of the interpersonal difficulties of the times. I believe that within each of us in the ability to open up to others, to celebrate life, and to develop the relationships which we desire to develop. Interpersonal skills are important in reducing loneliness and skill levels can increase through theraputic relationships. Families can be strenghtened and increased satisfaction in relationships can be achieved.
All of us can profit from counseling at times, sometimes brief, sometimes not so brief, but within each of us is the ability to achieve our goals in life.
With our culture in flux, to be able to increasingly become aware of our strengths and areas of growth is essential for being able to achieve our goals in life.
Families are under pressure in our culture and parenting has challenges. The biggest mistake is not to deal with the pressure and the challenges. Therapy
awaits. i am the proud father of one daughter who is in her thirties and I am married to a wonderful woman. Currently, I am the part-time chaplain at a Presbyterian retirement community. I regard the spiritual dimension of life important, that a sense of awe brings forth wisdom in life, realizing that we are not the center of reality.
I have daytime and evening appointment times avaliable, if you so choose. Snow. R. Donmoyer
