Sondra Wright, LPC
About me
Hi! My name is Sondra Wright and I am excited to be a part of the BetterHelp Program. I am a Registered Play Therapist Certified School Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor. My approach to counseling students is based upon the Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Reality, and Cognitive-Behavioral theoretical approaches. I believe that each individual is capable of self-direction and growth. In counseling, I strive to build a relationship with each client that is facilitative to those ends. During sessions, I work to maintain an environment containing unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. I guide students through the explorations of solutions already present within their lives in order to solve current challenges. I work with students to explore how certain thoughts can produce negative or painful feelings and maladaptive behaviors. Together, we examine choices connected to their goal(s). My approach is on the whole student, his/her feelings, behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs. Given the time constraints for therapy in the school settings, utilizing these problem-focused and goal-directed approaches is helpful as I work to help students’ academic, personal, social, and career developmental needs. My focus is always directed toward creating change that will lead to reaching established treatment goals.
