About me

I use a therapeutic approach that helps individuals gain skills in handling overwhelming emotions and improve their relationships. The first goal is to help you to learn to experience feelings without being overwhelmed. The second goal is to improve your interpersonal skills by using your personal goals instead of letting feelings guide you. This approach has been used to successfully treat many different individuals, including those with depressed mood and anxiety. If you have these kinds of issues, I would likely be a good match for you.

The goal of therapy is for the individual to work toward dealing with emotions in safe and healthy ways, and deal with interpersonal situations effectively. During sessions we talk about your history, current relationships and goals for the future.

I have a master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Texas (1995) and have worked in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings for 30 years. I also have a master's degree in music performance from the University of Maine (2021) and certification from Berklee School of Music in writing and producing (2015). If you are interested, the use of music, songwriting and lyric writing as therapeutic tools can be incorporated.

My approach to therapy is helpful for individuals who experience difficulty with overwhelming emotions that negatively affect relationships. Working together, you will gain the skills and insight to improve your quality of life. It would be a privilege to work with you toward healing and growth.
