I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of mental health experience, and I am a military officer. My education includes a B.S. in psychology, a Masters in Health Service Administration, and a Masters in Social Work.
I use a holistic approach and solution-focused approach when providing therapy to my clients which involves assessing if a client has co-morbid issues such as diabetes and depression or chronic pain and anxiety. I believe it is vital to assist clients with health management while addressing mental health issues. I am caring and compassionate and recognize that there is still a stigma associated with seeking mental health treatment. As a result, I appreciate anyone that takes time to care for their state of mind as it is just as important as maintaining physical health. Additional treatment modalities that I use include mindfulness practice, dialectal behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
In addition to providing services to the civilian population, I also have experience working with the military community to include Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, and Veterans. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, personality disorders; i.e., borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, self-esteem issues, and PTSD. I also have experience working with clients dealing with substance abuse issues, adjustment problems, grief and loss, and work-related stressors.
- Stress, Anxiety
- Family conflicts
- Trauma and abuse
I also have experience in Addictions, LGBT, Relationship issues, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self esteem, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes

I'd recommend anyone who's struggling with similar issues to Sonya Boone.
Sonya has been great. I come and go from my counselling, and don't always keep on top of it. But she always answers any questions I have when I reach out, always checks in when she hasn't heard from me in awhile, and shares great resources for me to fully utilize my BetterHelp experience. She is wonderful.
Sonya is competent and caring. She is very empathetic, and she gives me the room to work through my complicated feelings without being judged about it. I think that she's done a fine job so far. I hope to continue.
