About me
Sonya Pearson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Sonya has been working as a counselor since 2002. She received her BA in Sociology from Claflin University and preceded to receive her MA in Counseling from Webster University. Sonya is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the South Carolina area. She has work with individuals from age 18 to 65 years old. She works with helping individuals who have problems dealing with depression, stress and anxiety, ADHD, personality disorders, family conflict, blended families, anger, relationship problems, grief and loss, separation disorders and many more. Sonya has a great love for what she does. She has earned many achievements throughout her career aimed from helping others. Sonya has worked in numerous settings, from group homes, to mental health facilities, crisis centers, private practices and out patient facilities. Throughout her career Sonya has went from counseling clients to also being a supervisor over several clinicians to help increase their counseling skills. She has provided leadership for interns who are currently pursuing their licensure.
Sonya's motto is "Where there is a tomorrow, there is also hope for change." Sonya's counseling approach is person-centered, cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing and solution focused. She loves to allow the client to express themselves through communication. Sonya implements many therapeutic activities to help the client identify current thoughts and feelings they are dealing with. Sonya is willing to help all that is in need of helping and willing to receive her services.
