Stacy Bowman-Henry, LPC
About me
Hi there and welcome to the first step in making a positive change. My name is Stacy Bowman-Henry and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. I have experience working with a wide range of concerns and mental health issues, but a few examples are anxiety/depression, substance use, trauma, addiction, grief/loss, parenting concerns and life changes. I have worked with clients affected by depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma and relationship challenges from individual, group and family work.
My approach to therapy is client centered: clients are the experts on their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I support clients through developing skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation with the goal of moving clients towards a life involving the capacity for experiencing joy and freedom. I am easy to talk with and aim to create a safe and non-judging environment for you. My counseling approach ranges from person centered, cognitive-behavioral, solutions focused, trauma focused and positive psychology. However, I focus on the client and tailor what is necessary to help you accomplish your goals in therapy.
Welcome to the first step in making a positive change in your life. This is a journey that I am committed to take with you as you seek to live a more happy, meaningful and fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you!
