About me

Hello, and welcome to BetterHelp! You are here to find some assistance with something that is going on in your life. I’d like to help you! Let me tell you a little about myself.

I earned my master’s in social work at the University of Montana in 2013, where I focused on co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Since then, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Tennessee.
My work as a therapist is guided by the humanist theory that people can heal and grow if they have assistance that is genuine, empathetic, and accepting. I believe that when we accept ourselves exactly as we are, then we can find the strength to change behaviors that are not serving us. I specialize in working with people who have substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal conflict issues. The approaches I use include dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, attachment theory, and family systems theory.

I commend you for taking this step and exploring options for getting some help with whatever you are going through. I would be honored to work with you.

Stephanie is great. I've never had a counselor who was as helpful as she is. She's a good listener, good at teasing out narrative threads and finding concrete strategies/things to work on.

Ms. Adams is the best decision I have ever made regarding my life and choices in my life. She is empathetic, she is everything a good therapist should be. She listens wonderfully and gives pertinent, non judgemental advice on how to best address issues. If something isn't working as well for you, she helps you find another angle to come in from, without you feeling overwhelmed. She is a master at helping to find healthy coping strategies you're comfortable with. She also recommended and helped me to find an "in person" therapist in my area who accepts my insurance, to help me address past traumas. I am definitely hanging on to her for as long as I possibly can, she is a true assett to BetterHelp! If her profile interests you as a therapist, I say go for it with choosing her, you won't be sorry!

She’s compassionate, she doesn’t force her beliefs on you, she listens more than she talks. Just a splendid woman

Stephanie has gone above and beyond to be helpful, to be there, and to be accessible for me. She is very respectful, knowledgeable and compassionate. She has helped me so much in just a few months and I couldn’t imagine not having her as a resource in this time. I am incredibly thankful for her, and the entire platform of Better Help. 10/10, 5 stars, 100% satisfaction from both the help of Stephanie and Better Help!

Stephanie is extremely empathetic, non-judgmental, and she has an awesome sense of humor. She guided me to an epiphany that will shape the rest of my life (for the better,) and I could not have done that without her help.
