My name is Stephanie Gooding, and I am a licensed therapist in North Carolina. I use a client-centered approach, meaning that the client sets the focus and pacing of our sessions. I am specifically trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I describe CBT as helping clients incrementally change their behavior. My clients have previously described this approach as empathetic and respectful.
The foundation of the client / counselor relationship is unconditional positive regard. This concept means that every client deserves compassion and understanding. Anything that is told to me during a session is privileged communication – it is protected by the law, and I am ethically bound not to share this information. I take this aspect of my practice very seriously.
My MA is in Clinical Mental Health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I completed my MBA from Queens University and hold an undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College.

I’ve always found Stephanie’s insights very useful in better understanding myself and my past relationship.
Stephanie is patient, reflective, and warm. She helps me to digest the things that I’m struggling with in a productive and meaningful way. I look forward to our sessions and feel lucky to have found such a capable therapist. She’s professional and direct but compassionate.
I think Stephanie has done a good job at checking up on me after our session. She has made some helpful suggestions. Would recommend.
My feelings and anxiety is a mess of thoughts and hard to process but Ms. Gooding helps me look at my troubles in a different perspective and gives me peace of mind. I am very grateful for her help!
Very informative. I'm an individual who's neurotic in nature so I second guess a lot of my own ideas and thoughts, and she recognizes this. She's also open-minded to have conversations about upbringing, familial relationships, career, and young adulthood.
I’ve only been working with Stephanie for a few weeks but already find her so warm and comforting. I feel better about my situation and will be loyal to better help so I can keep working with her
Stephanie is so knowledgeable and insightful. In just a few short weeks, she has helped me more than I ever thought possible. I was a little hesitant about starting therapy, especially about doing it online, but during my sessions with Stephanie, she is completely focussed and despite it "only" talking via video chat, I feel like we're in the same room. She is kind and caring and I couldn't ask for anyone better!
