About me

Greetings!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida who has worked in the field for 8 years. I earned my Master’s degree through Nova Southeastern University and my Bachelor’s through Flagler College. Since starting my career in 2013 I have been trained in several evidence-based practices that I have used while working with clients who present to therapy for an array of concerns. My primary focus has been child & family therapy, but my skill set has also been well-suited for a diverse client population over the years.

My orientation or style could be described as having an eclectic approach because the primary focus is on meeting clients where they are and using the most clinically appropriate techniques to meet their needs. I think it is important to tailor treatment to meet each individual client’s needs because there is no “one size fits all” method or technique for everyone. Although I enjoy the application and effectiveness of CBT and Client Centered, I think my foundation as a therapist is mainly rooted in the Positive Psychology & Strength-Based Approach. I firmly believe that most individuals already possess the skills, qualities, and insight to cultivate a general state of well-being which includes happiness, healing, and fulfillment – some of us may just need a little extra support and guidance to get where we want to be.

My appreciation for the helping profession started at a very young age. I had my first experience in elementary school as a client when my mom enrolled me in grief counseling following a significant loss. In sixth grade, I began volunteering for my school’s peer mediation group who focused on helping fellow students learn how to effectively problem-solve and engage in healthy conflict-resolution. Throughout high school and undergrad, I enjoyed serving as a mentor for youth in the community who were deemed as “at-risk”. Since my career began, I have had the opportunity to work with countless others. My work experience includes community & school-based services, crisis intervention/trauma-focused care, and outpatient therapy. It has been rewarding to serve in this capacity and I feel honored that so many people have entrusted me to walk alongside them as they face challenges in their life journey.

After working with Stephanie for the past few months, I would highly recommend her. She's empathetic & a great listener. She offers a lot of clarity in situations where I'm fogged with anxiety. She eases my "what ifs" and "worst case scenarios" and talks me through my fears rather than undermining them. She remembers my previous sessions really well & always makes it a point to touch base on all topics or aspects in my healing journey.

She's also culturally aware & I feel very comfortable sharing my family's cultural "norms" to her without feeling like she's judging me or confused by my home life situation. Overall great person to work with!
