My name is Stephen Richardson and I'm a licensed clinical social worker. From a very young age, I knew my life's calling was to be a counselor. I received my bachelor's in social work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2012 and my master's in social work from Winthrop University in 2016. I have been practicing therapy ever since.
I want to commend you for taking the first step towards taking care of your mental health. It's good to be responsible when it comes to our minds. The brain is the most important organ in the human body. It's what makes us who we are. Therefore, it makes sense that our mental health is the most important health for us to take care of! I'm glad you're here so let me tell you a little about myself.
I have experience working with all types of people and issues. I want to help everybody overcome their issues, obstacles, and challenges so that they can live their best lives. My areas of expertise are treating people with mental illness, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and existential concerns. I am trained in several evidence-based practices to best assist individuals suffering from mental illnesses, personal, and relationship issues.
I promise to be non-judgmental, a good listener, helpful, insightful, and straight-forward with you. I am respectful of all cultures, beliefs, ideologies, and religions. I am not here to tell you what to do or how to do it. My job is to help you figure out what you want to do and how to best go about it. You are in charge of your therapy. We will work on whatever you would like to. Let's get started on achieving your goals!
Thanks for reading my profile! I look forward to getting to know you better and helping you with your mental health. I hope that you'll chose me to be your counselor so that together we can accomplish your goals so that you can live your best life.

Written on Jul 20, 2020 after therapy with Stephen for 5 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and family conflicts
Stephen is awesome. He is always upbeat and encouraging but at the same time honest and truthful, which is not always easy. Stephen was very open and accepting to anything I had to say and I always felt safe opening up to him about any issue. He is not judgemental and he was willing to help me work through things in my own way, at my own pace while always reminding me of essential truths that we had covered along the way.
Life can be full of pressure and judgement, but we all need someone who will hear us out when we speak the raw truth, as awkward and ugly as it may be. I'm very thankful that Stephen did that for me, and I would recommend him to anyone as I believe he would do the same for them!

Stephen is always encouraging and listens to all my crazy stories with no judgement. He helps me think of the things I wouldn’t think of alone and being able to text him during the week really helps! I don’t have to try and remember everything going on for a once a week appt. I can just type it to him and we can talk right then via text or cover it in our next session, but it takes the pressure off me to have to remember so much information! Stephen really is an awesome therapist!

Stephen has been a significant part of the healing I've experienced in such a brief time. I will forever be grateful to him for the help that he has provided me. He always responded in a timely fashion, even quicker than I thought an online Counseling Service would provide. I have already, and will continue to recommend this service to my friends and other loved ones.
