About Me
My name is Dr. Steven Bond. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Great State of Texas. I have been working a Licensed Counselor since 2011 but have been in the mental health field for far longer. My journey in the mental health field began in 2002 when I started working as a mental health technician in an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Since that time I have worked in several capacities within the inpatient mental health world, eventually obtaining a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Health Sciences. While working as an intake/admissions assessor I was asked to begin managing the inpatient mobile assessment team for a small community of hospitals. Intake and admissions quickly became my specialty. While providing mobile assessments for the community, I began to work along-side several very experienced therapists in a private practice setting. This provided a wealth of knowledge and information that allowed for my continual growth toward becoming a better more experienced therapist.
I started Bond and Associates, a private practice, in 2012 when I began seeing patients on a short term therapy basis with a primary focus on mood disorders, anxiety, phobias, and trauma. In 2013 I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and initiated my specialty field of trauma and trauma recovery. After further training in trauma recovery more specialization was centered around active duty military, veterans, physical/sexual trauma survivors, and severe anxiety disorders.
My primary approach to therapy will start with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and then evolve as the client/therapist relationship evolves. I have found that not all uses of therapy services match each client. Which is why I enjoy getting to know my clients well and engaging them to identify which therapeutic technique works best for them.
My philosophy: Firstly, I enjoy working with clients who are seeking help because change is something that must be sought and not delivered by hand. Second, therapy is difficult for the client seeking services. The simple request for therapy may have been the singularly most difficult decision because you had to admit that something was wrong. Third, therapy can be emotionally stressful and may even manifest physically (tearfulness) but through these elements, change and hopefulness can result.
While I do practice as patient centered, I focus many efforts through the guise of Neo-Freudian or Jungian analytic psychology, and employ a mixture of therapeutic techniques along with dream work/analysis.
I believe that therapy is a useful tool for anyone needing support. Often times, therapy can be seen as someone to talk through a difficult/challenging time, help bring about change, or even learn to think differently.

Reviews
Steven is very approachable an gives me good insight to my own thinking without actually telling me what to do. He was more available earlier on, but I suppose I was more needy then too. I think we have a good rapport and I trust what he says and what he sees in my life and actions and thought processes that need changing.
The personal growth I have experienced since commencing therapy with Steven 8 months ago has been astounding. He listens, understands and is very caring and patient. I can trust him with everything. The wisdom and knowledge he shares with me is so helpful to me as I continue on my journey of healing.
Great personality and easy to talk to! Really gets to know you and whatever you are dealing with.
100% support.
We've had a few short discussions and so far I've been given some tools to try. He's been very professional and personable as well. Which I really like. Very respectful.
Very helpful
I'm really glad to have Steven as a counselor. I always feel better after a session with him. He makes me feel heard and understood, he has helped me see things I couldn't see and analyze my feelings and my thoughts. He makes me feel at ease and I feel free to tell him anything. He's an amazing person.
Steven has a way with words - a strong ability to convey complex ideas concisely through simple terms. He excels at making everything relatable, through the use of stories, 'Socratic' questions, and through sharing specific information. He shows his care through his professional demeanor and timely responses. Overall Steven is a great person to spend time with who will leave you changed and more aware of your own self.
He's wonderful, down to earth, a great listener.
I would 100% recommend Steven Bond, he is brilliant and has helped me through my issues and I felt like I was talking to a close friend . Thanks!
Steven is great! He listens and reads my journal entries to better understand me and my needs. I like his approach and kindness.
