About me

Hi, my name is Steve Brokob. I am a professional counselor licensed in Virginia with 10 years of experience in clinical practice working in community mental health setting. I have worked the last 5 years in a Crisis center, doing evaluations in the community and emergency rooms. I am comfortable and trained in discussing a wide variety of topics including depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, anxiety, panic attacks, mood, thought, substance-use, and personality disorders. I have worked with populations from 4 years old to the elderly, as well as some with neuro-cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Prior to working in this helping profession, I have served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and am knowledgeable about Military/Veterans issues including PTSD and TBI. I have received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University.

I use a person-centered therapy style, where your goals are identifying your strengths to help empower and motivate you. I provide an empathic, non-judgmental approach with my clients. I will help you identify your thinking patterns and how this relates to your daily habits and behaviors. I will assist you with building your awareness of your emotions and mental processes. I will also assist you with identifying your symptoms and learning appropriate coping skills.

I want you to know there is no shame in seeking help and know that it can be challenging to share your struggles with someone you don't know. It is okay to not be okay, and I hope to provide you with some Better Help by being present with you and meeting you where you are today.

I look forward to working with you during this process!
