About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan. I am authorized to work with clients residing in these states. I also hold credentials as a Music therapist, Board Certified and as a Fellow with the Association of Music and Imagery. I have been in private and agency practice for over 20 years.

I believe every human has the capacity to grow in personhood, to find joy in life, and make meaning for her or himself. I also believe for every individual there are a myriad of factors challenging the growth of personhood, joy and meaning making in their lives. Former and current clients, in my practice, who were seeking guidance, assistance, and compassionate listening have expressed a sense of being supported and development of greater insight.

My formal educational includes a BA in Music Education, MA Liberal Studies, PhD Arts in Human Development, CAS Counselor Education; MA in Music Therapy, Fellow - Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, Mandala Assessment and Spiritual Direction training/credentialing. I hold credentials in the states of Maine and Michigan as LCPC, and LPC respectively. My continuing education also includes ACES training, Trauma-Informed Care & Counseling, Domestic Violence & Intimate Partner Violence counseling training and Clinical Supervision training. I have practiced in the mental health field since 1996.

In addition, I have extensive education and personal experience in Jungian studies including lectures, seminars, conferences and analysis from 1988 to the present. A depth orientation or, as sometimes stated, psychodynamic psychotherapy informs my counseling and supervisory practices.

As a clinician and supervisor my role includes providing:
- reflective listening
- guidance when occasioned in goal setting
- feedback for reflection related to skill development
- support of creativity and development of problem solving
- encouragement of insight development
- motivation of personal resource development

I have great respect for those who seek assistance on life's journey and look forward to being a supportive presence and resource for those who come to work with me.

Susan came into my life when I was in a desolate place and provided me support, calmness in a loving manner with interactive avenues to practice at home. Highly recommend.

After only one session with Susan I am already incredibly impressed by her knowledge and expertise. Her unique training very clearly provides her with a deep layered perspective that I have never had from a therapist before and I’m looking forward to continuing and delving in more with her in the coming weeks. By far the most impressed and grateful I’ve been with a first therapy session, leaving it with homework to lay a foundation for future work in a way I’ve never done before that will be very beneficial. Very grateful to have discovered Susan on here!

Susan is an exceptional therapist she is engaged and helps me to keep my life moving in a positive direction. What I love most is she is not afraid to tell me when I start veering away from what I hold most important in my life. I couldn’t imagine my journey being as successful with anyone else by my side.

Susan has been a fantastic resource and therapist the last year I have been seeing her. Professional, friendly, and always responsive, while I know selecting a therapist is always a very personal choice Id recommend Susan to anyone interested in learning more about themselves and working through trauma.

Although I still have some sessions left with Susan, I can highly recommend her to others. She is a good listener and offers helpful suggestions when asked.
