Susan Nelson, LPCC
About me
Hello! My name is Susan Nelson and I'm a licensed professional clinical counselor in Minnesota. I've been working with individuals and families for 10 years. My approach is warm, relational, and honest. I most frequently use Humanistic, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral techniques in my sessions. I believe all of us can benefit from therapy at different times in our lives, and think the client-therapist relationship is a starting point for creating change and identifying where and how that change needs to happen.
My passions and areas of strength in therapy include parenting challenges, infertility, cancer, caregiving, anxiety, depression, coping with loss, and adapting to significant life change. I have worked with children and adolescents, as well as adults. I chose this career because I care deeply about people and our stories. I believe most of us have periods in our lives where we struggle to cope, and often don't feel seen or heard - fully or even at all. Therapy can bridge that gap and be an important step in healing and learning new ways to engage in our lives and impact change.
I look forward to hearing your story!

Susan is WONDERFUL! She is very easy to talk with, always carefully listening me and deciphering my words to help me understand what I am feeling and what my needs are. Then helping me talk through it. I went through several extremely impactful life changing events over the last 16 months. Susan helped me understand how to simultaneously approach navigating them all. I thank her for her warm and welcoming conversation!

She is extremely easy to talk to and I can tell she fully listens to everything I'm talking about and helps me walk through my thoughts. Even after one session so far I'm feeling very optimistic about what's to come.
