About Me

Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist in the state of North Carolina. If you are looking for an individual who has experience in a variety of service delivery settings, I believe you will find that my clinical experience will meet your needs. Several of the therapeutic techniques I use, include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Reality Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

In my 16 year career as a therapist, I have significant experience working with individuals dealing with mental health diagnoses as well as individuals with substance use disorders. I have provided individual, group, and family counseling as a Substance Abuse Counselor working with opioid addicts using Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT). Also, I have been employed as an Outpatient Therapist providing community based mental health and substance abuse counseling to children, adults, and families. I have extensive experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness as a Community Support Team-Team Lead. I have worked with individuals that were court ordered into substance use treatment; those that required in-patient treatment for mental health and substance use issues; and as a Counselor and Program Manager at a treatment center which provided individual and group counseling for patients receiving MAT.

My specialties include Substance Use Disorders, Stress and Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Motivation, Self-Esteem, and Confidence. I also enjoy working with clients that are experiencing concerns regarding Mood Disorders, Panic Disorders and Panic Attacks, Posttraumatic Stress, Work Place issues, Body Image issues, Chronic Pain Issues and Disability, Infidelity, Self Harm, Aging and Geriatric Issues, Communication Problems, LGBTQ+ issues, and Life Purpose/Life Transition Issues.

I can interact with you in whatever manner you feel most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. However, I am also available to you via telephone, and live chat if that is more comfortable for you. I have availability on weekdays, evenings, as well as on Saturday mornings.

I look forward to working with you!!!

Suzanne is a wonderful counselor and I feel seen during our conversations. She brings her authentic self to sessions, which is very validating. I appreciate the messages she sends me between sessions, which help me plan and be more intentional.

Suzanne’s demeanor is calming and supportive. I feel heard and seen. She has the appropriate amount of listening and providing information/feedback/comment that is helpful for me. Glad for this connection.

I have had trouble in the past with opening up to therapist and was really concerned that video with a stranger would only enhance this but this was not the case. Suzanne immediately made me feel comfortable with sharing my thoughts and feelings and asked me the right questions to help get to the roots. I really enjoy the "homework" or extra information that she sends me after every meeting to make my healing journey that much easier. Suzanne is a great guide to help you discover where you want to be and has a plan to help guide you there.
