I am a licensed marital and family therapy, practicing for over 20 years with individuals, families, and in group settings in Tennessee. My specialty is in relationships, yet I worked in many areas of therapy such as managing anxiety and depression, addictive and compulsive behaviors, grief, marital, parenting, person.
I gravitate largely to a System's Theory approach in therapy. I frequently use CBT, Solution-Focused, Psychoeducation, and Motivational Interviewing. Together these models combined avoids placing blame on others, looking at the motivation for the issue, and practical strategies for change. I view my role in therapy as a coach or partner to walk beside others through the trenches in life.
I am a lover of writing and painting. Although my expertise is not in art therapy, I enjoy integrating creative outlets into therapy.
Additional areas of focus: Grief, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self esteem, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes, ADHD, Blended Family Issues, Codependency, Divorce and Separation, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Family of Origin Issues, Forgiveness, Guilt and Shame, Impulsivity, Mood Disorders, Social Anxiety and Phobia
Clinical approaches: Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Jungian Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy
