Tara Hummel, LPC
It is so hard to ask for help but you have gotten this far, let me help you! My goal is to provide hope and guide you to a more fulfilling future!
My name is Tara and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania, also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For 6.5 years, I worked with children and adolescents with Autism and other mental health disorders and their guardians, managing their children's challenging behavior. This has also included co-parenting difficulties. I have 15 years' experience helping people who struggle with alcoholism and addiction. Also, pre COVID, I volunteered to assist and facilitate activities during the weekend-long (2015-2019) Camp Erin, Philadelphia (Eluna Network), as a cabin ‘Grief Chief'. This camp is geared toward helping children ages 6-17 process the death of a loved one. We created a fun and safe atmosphere where the children could express their feelings, tell their stories and memorialize their loved ones.
I believe in treating my clients with dignity, respect and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, trauma-focused (because really- who makes it out of childhood without some kind of trauma!), and psychodynamic therapy.
Additional areas of focus: LGBT, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Anger management, Self esteem, Depression, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, ADHD, Autism and Asperger Syndrome, Divorce and Separation, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Forgiveness, Guilt and Shame, Midlife Crisis, Visually Impaired, Women's Issues
Clinical approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy

I’ve been trying to get in contact with Tara for a long time now, she was my therapist before & she helped me in so many ways get to where I am now. It’s been about a year and a few months & I did everything I told her I would do. Some of the things we talked about will stick with me forever. Tara if you see this, I finally took that leap of faith & I hope that you are doing well!

Tara is excellent! She provides additional resources and asks questions that help understand what I'm trying to say or feel about certain situations.
