About me

Hello and thank you for trying therapy! I know you want to find a good fit and despite all the clinical experience, authenticity is a most important attribute. Someone you can trust to help you figure things out. Someone that is relatable, can listen and challenge, when needed. I I'll tell you a little about me to help you decide. Please feel free to ask me any questions. I am a Maine native and obtained a BA in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Rhode Island where I also received the prestigious Outstanding Psychology Student Award. Working tirelessly with the most vulnerable and marginalized individuals in acute settings throughout the community, I am passionate about helping others live the life they were meant to realize. In 2003, I received my MSW from the University of New England and have been licensed as an LCSW since 2009.

I am a trauma informed therapist with experience with substance use and mental health disorders as well as major mental illnesses. I have worked with adolescents and adults at inpatient psych units, adults and elderly in intensive community settings, incarcerated women, and currently work with adults in a private practice setting here on better help as well as teaching CBT skills. I utilize a combination of interventions and curriculum, CBT techniques and complimentary practices, which are based in evidence and tailored to the individual. I pay special attention to the strengths of each person and am very relational in my approach.

The Philosophy/Attitude that guides my practice: The importance of helping you find safety in a sometimes unsafe and chaotic world. Everyone wants power and control over the destiny of their life. What do you want more control of in your life? What is causing the most stress right now? How are you really doing? I use solution focused, strengths based approaches to helping you develop the skills needed to thrive and overcome the current pain and suffering. I know recovery is possible and you can find the joy and meaning in life again. I define recovery as: A process of reclaiming what has been lost due to trauma, addiction and mental health issues. I know it can be hard knowing where to start. You already have begun! I believe that, so leave a message, get in touch. This is a compassionate, confidential place to explore the feelings, thoughts and behaviors that are getting in the way of you living your best life. Take care.

Terry is compassionate, thoughtful to her responses, listens and has given such great guidance through my upheavals in life and helping me ground myself and put myself as first priority, which has been hard because I am a caregiver. I have so much gratitude for Terry as she has given me strength I wasn't sure I had.
