Tina Elliston
About me
I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Life Coach, who works with you as an individual to meet your specific needs. I keep client numbers low to really get to know you and work with your specific needs.
I mostly use Counselling Skills, Mindfulness, CBT, and Solution Focused Therapy to help you achieve the results and outcomes you want and need. You set the goals. You have control. We can make a plan and set goals for your bespoke needs.. We can work at your pace, in bite sized chunks. No pressure. No deadlines. But I will check in with you to see how you are and remind you to complete worksheets or read relevant articles and give feedback on these. These help you to develop awareness and tools for coping and managing life and life's issues. They enable you to take steps forward rather than remaining stuck or struggling.
I am friendly warm and approachable, so you need not worry, you are in safe hands.
*If you cant see a time slot that works for you just ask for a suitable day/time that works for you and I will do my best to accommodate it.
I have additional Diplomas in in ADHD. Autism. Attachment theory. Bereavement. Borderline Personality Disorder. Bipolar Disorder. Couples Counselling. Relationship Psychology, Inner Child Healing. Life Coaching. Mindfulness. Narcissism. Perinatal Mental Health and Young Peoples mental health.
I have many years experience of working with women and women's health issues- encompassing anxiety, depression, low self esteem, sleep, stress and body image, well as work problems, family life and relationship issues.
I come from a Nursing & Midwifery background and have experience in Fertility difficulties, Pregnancy, Baby loss and Birth trauma.
I am currently completing the Foundation for Infant Loss Practitioner Training and Fertility Specialist Training. I am also an experienced Bereavement Counsellor.
I worked as a Nurse & Midwife prior to becoming a counsellor and I understand the pain women feel when they are struggling to become pregnant or have lost a baby and how that might impact upon their relationship or feelings about themselves or their partners. I can help you to improve your communication skills and to reconnect with your partner. I also work with couples.
I understand the trauma of baby loss and birth trauma, how hard it can be to talk to friends and family, how difficult it can be to be honest with them, how you may need to explore things that you don't want to share with those close to you and how you may need to talk to a professional independently, in order to do that. You do not need to be alone with your pain.
I understand the struggles of new parent hood and of breastfeeding, postnatal depression and self doubt, exhaustion and sleepless nights.
So often women who experience birth trauma and difficult deliveries, feel they have no one to talk to about this.
Sometimes new dads feel the birth has left them traumatized too, I understand this and can help you process your thoughts and feelings, I can give you the time and space you need to talk through these issues in confidence, help you with practical ideas and support you through a difficult time.
New parenthood can be a difficult time, there are a lot of new adjustments and it changes the dynamics of a relationship - we can explore this. I want to use this knowledge and expertise within the counselling field to help people with these issues.
As a nurse and have worked with people experiencing health anxieties and with ladies experiencing menopausal problems, hot flushes, frustrations and feelings of anger, anxiety and low confidence. As well as brain fog and cognitive issues. Talking about these experiences can really help, as so often we stay silent and suffer alone.
*You may be suffering a life limiting illness and want to talk through the things which worry you about the future or need help to plan the end you want. But don't feel able to discuss this with loved ones.
*I have worked with a National Bereavement Service and understand your feelings of grief, anticipatory grief, as well as bereavement.
*I can help you to process those feelings and understand grief and offer ways to help you through it.
*If you have lost a loved one I can help you to live with the love that is left behind and to process your thoughts and feelings in a healthy and healing way.
*I can also help with grief from pet loss as it is as real and intense as the loss of a human companion. "The depth of the grief reflects the depth of the bond".
*I am a kind, warm and caring person and counsellor. You can talk to me in confidence and will feel safe and at ease. So what are you waiting for? Reach out today and let me help you on your journey.

Tina was always on time, super compassionate, and a great listener. She had many good resources to pull from when I had an issue, and I highly recommend working with her.

Tina is a very experienced and empathetic therapist. She is a very good active listener and she understood my needs immediately when I told her I needed somebody who could challenge me as I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. It's a very fine boundary between "pushing too much" that could cause more stress to the patient and "push just the right amount"...and Tina was fabulous in this sense and it was possible because she was really understanding my needs. She also gave me many resources I could read and journal about, she was very respectful of our time together, always professional, always on time. I couldn't recommend her more.
