About me

Hi, I'm Tonia Dalton and I am excited that you have taken your first step in your journey of hope and healing. I look forward to helping you get to where you wish to go. I work with individuals who have challenges and struggles in the areas of depression, trauma, anger management, anxiety, stress and life changes. Many experience mental and emotional health concerns and all are working toward a life of stability and peace of mind.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience working with diverse populations and age groups. I have worked in environments of grief, crisis and despair as well as in those to promote skill building, strength, empowerment, and self-love.

My counseling style is relaxed, practical, encouraging and empowering. In most cases, my approach starts with the mind. It is very important to me that you learn to identify and understand your way of thinking and learn to process and perceive problems in healthy ways. Learning acceptance is also important; struggling with things that are out of our control is distressing. I also want you to utilize your own unique strengths and use what has and will work for you. It is exciting for me to watch you grow and become empowered. I enjoy seeing individuals connect past and present and have breakthroughs right there in our session!

Open communication is important. You should feel that our sessions are a safe space; no judgement and the freedom to open up about whatever is causing distress. My communication style is very reality based, with encouragement, compassion and warmth as well as some humor.

Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will discuss what brought you to therapy and your ultimate goals for our time together. The first step is sometimes the hardest and you taking that step is very courageous. I look forward to helping you in your journey to get to where you want to be.

Tonia is great. She always checks in with me even though I’m really bad at keeping up with responding.

Written on Oct 23, 2019 after therapy with Tonia for 2 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, self esteem, and adhd

I’ve tried therapy in the past but felt like they were treating symptoms and not the actual problem I was facing. Tonia, however, helps me look deeper into what I’m feeling and realize my own role in my journey to feeling better. She’s honestly amazing.

When I first spoke to Tonia, I was broken. I couldn’t even open up. She was there for me and now I barely get triggers.

I have spoken with a few therapists here and there throughout my life, but Tonia is the only one I feel like ever actually understood me and my concerns. I keep gushing about how awesome she is to my friends and my sisters. I hope everyone who needs to speak to a therapist has a chance to talk with someone just like Tonia.
