About Me

Hello. It takes a significant amount of courage to ask for help. Whatever life transitions you are going through, I am here to help you.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida (LMHC). I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2014. I am presently pursuing my Ph.D. in General Psychology. I am the proud wife of a Navy Chief, and together we have five daughters.

I have worked in the mental health field for the past six years. I have experience working in community-based agencies and have worked with a wide range of clients including those experiencing mood disorders, grief, anger management, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, parenting concerns, trauma and life transitions.

My passion lies in the development of reintegration of positive and healthy lifestyles for individuals. My fresh approach to counseling is kind, nonjudgmental, and down to earth. I use creative clinical skills (Mindfulness, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and an innovative drive to give you the tools you need to redefine your future.

I look forward to walking beside you during this journey.

Trenye has been my counselor for several weeks now. She is very quick to respond to my needs, and is a great listener. She has really helpful inputs, and even after my first session with her I felt so much better. I highly recommend Trenye Black.

Trenye is very intelligent, intuitive, and calming. I’ve had many other therapists. She is by far, the best.

Trenye has been fantastic since day one! She always responds quickly to my messages and is very thoughtful during our video chats. Talking with Trenye has been vital to my mental health. I’m so glad I joined BetterHelp and got paired with her!!!

It's been a couple of months so far but Trenye has been amazing for me! I couldn't be anymore grateful to be matched up with her. After every session I feel like everything is actually going to be okay. And I can breathe. And the exercises that she has shared have definitely motivated me to follow through with how I want to shift my life. I think the most important thing for me was the fact that I actually felt comfortable being vulnerable. I was actually comfortable with allowing her to help me.

She is so helpful and is a careful listener. She brings up topics that are important to my mental health with me directly telling her what is bothering me. She is extremely intuitive. I leave every session with her feeling like a million pounds have been lifted off my chest. She’s truly wonderful.

Shes super calm and easy going and it helps keep me calm and focus on being open about what's on my mind. Even when I am upset she waits for me to calm down so I can respond with a clear head. Although we have only had a few sessions so far I feel like she has been a huge relief and the exercises that are planned out in the future I feel will be really helpful :)

This is my first experience with therapy so at first I was naturally apprehensive. That being said, Trenye has been both professional and exceptional, helping me figure out and express what I'm feeling, and in addressing what my needs are. She gives me options to explore and helps me find solutions to my obstacles. She goes at my pace when I need to slow down and encourages me when I'm experiencing breakthroughs. She has helped me immensely so far.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this, I was a bit nervous. But I felt comfortable talking to Trenye and opening up to her. She offers a good viewpoint and allows me to share my thoughts with her without judgment. I was going through a really rough time mentally and emotionally and it was great to have her to talk to. I think she’s a great counselor and is very knowledgeable about effective ways to handle/cope with relationship issues.

Trenye has been a really great asset during a really rough time. We’ve been working together for a little over three weeks now, and she has been nothing but patient, compassionate, positive, and helpful. She is also wicked quick; she was able to detect issues in just a couple days talking (and not even in official sessions!) that took me years to figure out. She gives practical advice and suggestions that, with time and commitment, have made a really hard time a little easier for me to deal with.
