About me
Hello-
My name is Tricia Richards and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Washington. I have started my work in community mental health, in 2 different areas of Washington, which has given me a lot of experience working with diverse populations, with many different issues that individuals and families face, including anxiety, depression, abuse/neglect, reunification, parenting difficulties, stress, loss, and overall life difficulties.
I take a client centered and goal oriented, systems approach, being guided by the idea that people do the best they can with what they have; Sometimes they just need more tools. I work with my clients to determine what they want their goals to be, and that is what we focus on, taking into account all of the systems at play in life, such as school, work, family, and friends.
I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Family Studies, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, from Central Washington University. Then, I went on to earn my Masters Degree from Seattle Pacific University in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I have been doing therapy since 2014, married since 2017, and in 2018 my husband and I welcomed our amazing Boy/Girl Twins into the world.
I look forward to working with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Tricia Richards. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She made me feel comfortable right away and offers ways for me to try and tackle what I'm working through in the best way for me. Great experience thus far.
She reaches out to message me, and feels like she's actually listening in meetings, not just doing a job but really helping a person
Tricia was very thoughtful and able to find constructive ideas for things for me to work on between sessions. I would highly recommend her.
Tricia, is an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate counselor whom I would recommend to a individual who is in need of a very competent Trauma counselor! Geo
I have been working closely with Tricia Richards for almost a year. She has been a wonderful resource helping me with my anxiety and stress. Tricia is an effective listener and offers empathy as we discuss my concerns and issues. Overall I would highly recommend Tricia as a therapist. Thank you.
She really listens, every time we talk I just know she cares. She’s helped me through so much
Great therapist. great listener. very understanding.
Very kind and caring. Let's me talk without interrupting me every time I switch subjects.
Soft voice helps also it's soothing in a way. Very professional A+
She’s kind and understanding, while also being helpful and comprehends situations quite well. She pushes you just enough to get you to look at things for what they are, not what you think they are, and helps develop that into a skill. My life has gotten a lot better since being under her care, and I think it’ll continue to get better.
Tricia has been a blessing to me. She has counseled me and improved my quality of life. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She was great!
A lovely person and so helpful
Tricia has been helpful in working through my issues.
I appreciate how Tricia asks me questions to explore what I am dealing with. She keeps me on track with what things I can control and what things I cannot control, which is imperative as I grow.
Tricia has been my first and only therapist since I've checked in. There's not enough words to express my gratitude towards her. It was incredibly easy to connect with her, because a lot of my issues requires context that she understood completely, and proved to me that she understood.
Offering her own perspective and explanations on things, I've finally started to come to terms with my issues. "Started" being the definitive word here, and it's in large part because of her, that I'm able to be completely comfortable in therapy, and for me to continue to be in therapy for as long as it takes until I can leave therapy with my head held high, knowing I'm a better person than having first checked in.
Since learning about this way of therapy sessions is a major help in so many ways that most wouldn't see or understand especially with the virus amongst other things and I stopped my sessions on my own account not only did she send me a follow up to check in on me she also accepted me back and responded in a timely fashion and to me that was alot in the good type of way...
Tricia is awesome.
She is a soft spoken well educated person.
Very good at responding and giving perspective
Tricia helped me finally realize after years of trying to force myself, that forgiveness is not something to work out on my end. I do not need to force myself to forgive someone who does not deserve it. My first little dip into therapy has been a wonderful experience with Tricia.
I think Tricia is wonderful! Her encouragement, advise and helpful tips and instructions have been wonderful and has helped me greatly in the short time we have been talking. I look forward to her messages and insight and respect her greatly. I am so glad I found this program and Tricia to help me through this tough time!
Tricia has been very helpful in providing a good perspective for me during my grief journey in a compassionate way that put me at ease. Her involvement has significantly helped me understand and process my grief in a healthy way.
Tricia has a way of getting me to think more deeply, meaning more about the core of my issues and not the surface pain.
Tricia has been an excellent therapist. She listens and encourages the positive behaviors in my life. I’m almost embarrassed at where I was when I started this process, but Tricia has opened my mind quite a bit to what I am allowed to ask for, who I’m allowed to be and what I’m allowed to say no to. No matter where you’re at in your process, Tricia will open your eyes to the possibilities of what life could be.
Tricia is very patient, understanding, and helps keep the focus on me. We communicate primarily through text using session boards and weekly sessions via phone, live chat, or video. I tend to overthink and she’s good at refocusing my attention back to me while staying a true unbiased to my situation. She’s a great person that’s willing to listen as I spew my thoughts out via text or call.
I am very appreciative of the time I spent writing and speaking to Tricia. She was supportive, helpful, and available. Her responses to my journal entries were insightful and encouraging. Our sessions pinpointed the core of the matter quickly and I felt we made headway each time. I consider the time spent on Betterhelp to be invaluable.
Tricia is very patient and understanding. I immediately felt like she was relating to me despite conversing over text primarily. She really helps sort through any muddled thoughts and emotions, and works with you to identify ways to work through issues.
