Trudie Johnston
About me
Hello, my name is Trudie and I am registered as a counsellor in the UK , to work with individuals over the age of 18 years.
I have worked as a qualified and registered counsellor, with clients, both in my private practice and in a clinical setting for six years and before that I was a bereavement support volunteer, which is what led to me training as a counsellor.
During that time I have worked with clients who have experienced a wide range of difficulties including, bereavement, relational problems, disability, health problems, anxiety, stress, low self esteem.
Nothing is too big, or too small to bring to counselling, whatever is concerning you, will concern me too. My initial training was in person-centred counselling, but having had further training, in Attachment, CBT and Psychodynamic counselling, so now encompass different theories tailoring them to you and what you bring.
I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, in a confidential space.
As a counsellor, who has experienced counselling herself, I know how difficult just taking that first step and contacting a counsellor can be. It takes courage to open up to someone about what's going on for us in our lives.
If you are ready to take those first steps, I am here to support you and look forward to working with you.

I feel that Trudie helps me to understand and is patient when asking questions, re-wording them to support my understanding. Gives analogies and examples, is sympathetic to my need to understand. Thinks of me between sessions and sends useful messages. Holds me to account on my internal dialogue to help me to learn to be more kind to myself.
