About Me

Do you want to feel happier? Reduce depression and anxiety? Feel more in control of your moods? I can help! My name is Valerie Lees. I am a Licenced Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania and I have been helping people lead happier, more fufilling lives for over 20 years. I received my Bachelor's degree in Dietetics from Drexel University in 1989 and my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia Unversity in New York City in 1992. I have worked in inpatient psychiatric settings, outpatient psychiatric clinics, private practice, and crisis lines.

I have helped adults with varying issues, from depression and anxiety to relationship issues, addictions, trauma, and marital discord. When life gets hard and messy we can feel stuck and hopeless. Did you know that our thoughts control our feelings ? It's true, they do. This is good news when good things happen to us but it can be bad news when bad things happen. I will help you learn to control your thoughts so that you have more contorl over your feelings and your life, even when bad things happen. I will help you turn difficult situations into positive personal growth and an improved mood. I use Postive Psychology techniques, Cognitive Behavioral therapy techniques, mindfullness, and meditation/vizulazation/breathing techniques to help you reach you goal of improved mood and improved self control. When you have control over your thoughts, you have control over your life!

It takes courage to seek help, I applaud you for doing so, you should be proud of yourself! If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to helping you !

Best therapist I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend.

BetterHelp was my first ever therapy experience. I met Valerie during a point in my life where I felt very helpless and alone. Through thought-work and practice, she gently nurtured me in my journey of personal growth. Her knowledge and perspective was valuable, and allowed me to gain more insight into human nature and interactions. I feel so much gratitude for her kindness, guidance, and patience as I slowly found my way.

At the end of every session I feel way better than I did before the session. Valerie is the best person I have ever talked about my problems with. She understands me, doesn’t judge me, remembers almost everything I tell her. She’s always there when I need her.

Valerie is kind and easy to talk to. I like how she gives you breathing exercises and different homework to help you cope with things on your own. I would recommend her to anyone.

I like that she remembers the things we talked about from the week before. She also doesn't make me feel bad or downplay how I'm feeling.
