Hello & Welcome!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Distance Credentialed Counselor who graduated from the University of Indianapolis with degrees in Psychology and Social Work in 2002. I went on to complete my master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University in 2003. I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and children. In addition to my work in a private practice environment, I am also actively involved in continuing education and higher education. As an adjunct faculty member and internship supervisor, I am able to train and assist Master of Social Work and Master of Counseling students at Indiana University, Butler University, and the University of Indianapolis. This allows me to remain well-versed in research surrounding counseling theory. I also have extensive social work research experience, and I have enjoyed the opportunity to publish and present this research in textbooks, journals, and at national conferences.
My personal counseling style and approach is very conversational, empathic, non-judgmental, compassionate and individualized. I endeavor to establish a quick but strong rapport with you in order for trust and progress to be made. I utilize a variety of theoretical perspectives depending upon your needs and counseling expectations. I most often rely upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness to assist my clients in making progress toward their goal(s). With a good rapport and regular interaction, I strongly believe that you can make progress in the counseling process. I maintain "office hours" for my BetterHelp clients. I pride myself on responding to email messages within 24 hours to maintain consistency and availability to my clients.
We all need help and support at different times in our lives, and it takes courage to begin this process. I would be honored to walk through this journey with you.
I look forward to working with you soon!

Wendy was very nice and upfront about how she could help and I appreciated her feedback.
Wendy has made my journey through mental health issues something to look forward to. She provides me with helpful insight and never judges me for things I have done in my past. She's kind and concerned, though she probably has dozens of clients. I feel like she really pays attention to my life's story. I would recommend her to anyone who is new to this experience, as she makes the transition from in-person counseling to text-based counseling very simple. I love this woman!
Wendy's been great, especially when I don't have the gumption to reply back to her, once I do she never makes me feel bad for taking a while to respond.
Wendy is very sympathetic and lends a comforting ear when you are talking about your situation. She is great about making sure she understands what it is you're communicating so that she can respond the best way. She's very helpful!
She's amazing. I really feel like im getting the help I should've had for so long. Working with her has helped me feel better about some of the things I've been through.
Wendy is a wonderful counselor. She really listens and is not quick to judge. She is kind, caring and supportive. I am amazed how quickly she replys and the strategies she suggested have really helped me cope and have improved my attitude.
Wendy is truly compassionate and helpful.
Thank you so much for your help in my time of need. I took notes on all your advice, and have come to actually enjoy meditation! You legitimately helped me just by giving good advice and being a positive/encouraging force in my life. I would recommend you to anyone :)
She is amazing. She asks plenty of questions to get to know you, and what your situation is. She will make sure you are doing okay (having had panic attacks before because of what has happened, she will check to see if I’ve had anymore). And she offers several suggestions to help you.
I have seen upwards of 10 counselors within my journey to mental wellness, but I have never been as comfortable with a therapist like I am with Wendy. From day one, her style and approach has been a perfect fit for me. She checks in daily and responds with paragraphs of personable information. I don't know how she manages different clients, yet still manages to care about each individual (like myself) - but she truly does! She listens to every word of my rambling and tangents, without judgment or a sense of annoyance. She responds to me, specifically, without overgeneralizing and grouping me into a category of any sort. I am so glad that I was matched with Wendy! If you are on the verge of quitting online therapy, I hope you find this review and request Wendy Galyen to be your support person! You will not regret it.
Wendy is brilliant and truly cares about the people she helps. I'd recommend her to anyone.
I have never encountered a person more compassionate than Wendy. She has been the most helpful person I've met that has helped me through the roughest moments of my life!

I was not sure what to expect with this experience, but wow it has been great. Wendy has been wonderful. She is understanding and supportive. She has a vast amount of knowledge and really knows how to lead me in the right direction. She has given me articles, books, and blogs to read to support me in my struggles. I appreciate that she always writes back within 24 hours. I feel that everything we discussed has been practical and doable. I am thankful for this style of counseling because it fits into my busy mom life.

Wendy is really great and helpful I couldn't have asked for a better counselor. I love talking to her- she makes me feel really relieved.
Wendy has been MORE than helpful to me and my family. Not only have I talked with her about personal struggles, but relationship struggles and family issues. She is prompt to respond and sends weekly check ins. I appreciate her time and help! She also got to the bottom of the issues and I feel like I know her personally without ever meeting!
Wendy has been super helpful so far and she has a wonderful response time! So happy she's my therapist!
She is a great listener. She made me feel that I can open up to her.
Brilliant. She really managed to uncover thoughts and emotions I never even realized I was having. After having a round of unsuccessful counseling in the past, she has really shown me how much the right help CAN make a difference! Thanks Wendy!
I am very grateful to have been paired with Wendy. She is a gifted and personable counsellor, and I appreciate her insights, suggestions, and constant encouragement. Her depth of understanding and empathy make it easier to discuss difficult situations, and I enjoy the pacing that this platform offers.
Wendy has been so wonderful to work with! She responds promptly and is very personable. I was originally assigned to a different therapist, but was unsatisfied with this individual and almost gave up on this form of therapy, but switched to Wendy and am so happy that I did.
I've suffered from depression for 30 years. I have made more progress with her than I have with anyone in the past. I usually won't talk to a therapist because it hasn't helped in the past, I have only talked to my psychiatrist for many years. I have felt comfortable with Wendy since day one.
Wendy is unlike any other therapist I have ever met. She is kind, caring and empathetic. She is also engaged in everything that is happening in your life that from the moment of first introduction I felt as if I was safe. I wouldn't change a thing. Wendy is the best!
Wendy is very helpful, non judgmental, and patient!
