Person-centred counselling can be an effective way of resolving feelings and problems. You'll have greater insight into your actions, thoughts, moods and behaviors. You'll feel listened to and understood, whatever you are going through. Even with the most supportive family and friends, you may need space to explore your feelings privately.
As your counsellor, I will,
- provide a safe, confidential relationship for you to explore your feelings,
- be honest with you – congruence,
- try to understand your point of view – empathy,
- not judge you – unconditional positive regard.
In your sessions, we will explore any difficulties to improve your well-being, emotional and mental health.
You will;
- talk about your problems with someone trained in counselling and therapy,
- relieve the stress you feel,
- have a place where you can tell all of your deepest secrets without feeling judged.
I generally check messages here twice per day Mon-Fri and respond as quickly as I can. I do appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times, as I may be tending to other clients or professional/personal responsibilities.

I can be avoidant, and there's just something about Billy's non-judgemental and warming demeanour that helps me to feel calm and settled in my vulnerability. William is really warm and welcoming, he makes the session feel like a safe space and takes things at the pace that suits you. William 'Billy' is a fantastic listener who is very easy to get along with. He asks questions sensitively but seemingly with the aim of building the narrative required to better understand the issues at hand. He is funny (when appropriate) and doesn't steer the conversation at all. In his opening conversation he mentioned 'nobody knows you better than you, so I won't try to tell you otherwise' which gave me a lot of confidence to discuss what was troubling me.

William Smith (Billy) and I have been having sessions for 3 months. To say the least, my life is starting to turn itself around. I am less consumed my anxiety and I trust his intuition. I feel heard and never judged. Some sessions are deep dives into a sad past, some focus on feeling grateful for now. Either way I feel comfortable sharing the parts of myself I was too ashamed to ever share with any other therapist I have worked with. He is a kind listener but never fails to be honest and tell you what you need to hear.
