About me

I became a therapist in 2019. I studied at the University of South Carolina for my undergraduate studies, majoring in psychology. My master's degree is in Counseling Education with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. For the last 6 years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families.

The purpose of therapy is to provide a supportive and collaborative space for growth, healing, and self-understanding. My goal is to help clients develop greater emotional awareness, strengthen relationships, and foster a deeper sense of authenticity and balance within themselves and others.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These approaches focus on understanding emotional experiences, identifying underlying needs, and exploring how past and present relationships influence current patterns of behavior and connection. Sessions are designed to help clients move from reactivity or self-criticism toward emotional regulation, self-compassion, and healthy communication.

In individual therapy, the work centers on exploring emotions, inner parts, and relational patterns that shape one’s sense of self.
The overall aim is to create lasting change through emotional insight, self-awareness, and relational healing.

Before working with Abreia, I had tried therapy other times in the past, and I was basically the same person with the same problems after each attempt. I felt stuck. I suffered from depression, anxiety, and I wasn't able to be the person I wanted to be. I struggled day to day, had trouble forming relationships of any kind, wasn't taking care of myself, wasn't meeting any of my goals, and was just generally unhappy and unfulfilled in my life.
I've worked with Abreia for some time now and am happy to say literally every single one of those things has changed. I am truly happy and content every day, I'm meeting all my goals consistently, I eat healthy, I exercise regularly, and my relationships have improved. The difference is like night and day. I can initiate conversations with anyone - and they actually go well now! My career was on the rocks but is going so much better now. My employer has definitely noticed the explosive growth as they bumped my salary up 33% over the past year! I literally did a 180 in life from virtually everything going bad to everything going great over the time I've been in therapy with Abreia. I cannot thank her enough. I have peace of mind, live in the moment, and am genuinely just so happy day to day and enjoy everything life has to offer now.

Abreia is a great therapist. She strikes a balance between professionalism and relaxed conversation. Her insights have been worth every dollar. She gives me a safe place to express myself. She doesn’t justify or excuse bad behavior but I never sense even a hint of judgement. She’s actually my first therapist but I can tell she’s one of the good ones
