About Me

Hey, my name is Andrew.
I enjoy staying active in my free time and my hobbies include running, hiking, reading, and writing. Family and travel are important to me. I have been working in the mental health field for a little over 5 years. I have worked in a jail diversion program for teens, a residential evaluation hospital for children and adults, and a community-based program for at-risk children, teens, and their families. I believe that as humans our identity is very important for our well-being. Understanding our personality in terms of genetic and spiritual factors, our family dynamics, and social connectedness is essential. Having a healthy and positive perspective of ourselves, our lives and our relationships with others can have a big impact on mental health.
Our thoughts can be very powerful and I believe they can be a starting point for achieving our highest potential. For this reason, my therapeutic approach emphasizes interventions from Positive Psychology and Cognitive-Behavior Therapy. My approach is informed by many treatment modalities including Adlerian Individual-Based Counseling, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem-Solving, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Existential Therapy,
In our work together we will take a look at your strengths, likes, and interests and work to maximize them, while also taking a look at daily routines that can build skills in areas of struggle.

Andrew is very knowledgeable and sensitive to the issues we’re working through. Andrew Perez is a pro. I have never had a male therapist, and wondered how it would be. His calm validation of my difficulties made me feel understood. He uses different kinds of tools such as IFS and targeted, thought-provoking questionaires. He shares his experiences when they help the most. After seeing other counsellors for several years, I feel like I'm making more progress, and I'm working harder to live better. I highly recommend Andrew.

I’m glad I found Andrew, as he somehow manages to speak to you as a friend but also keep it extremely professional. He is very knowledgeable and I like the way he’s positive goal oriented. This man, this man, this man! I honestly am not sure that I can fit everything that I want to say into these lines but I will state that he's fantastic! We have always had a great connection, he is a great listener even for the things that are left unsaid. He always finds something positive even in the most dire of situations. There has never been an appt where I didn't feel like I didn't get at least one thing out of our time together. His insight and words of encouragement are always amazing and have such a huge impact on both me as a person and my recovery as an alcoholic.

Andrew has provided empathic listening and useful mental health tools. He was able to track my rambling speech patterns and helped me ground back to the point of discussion and the tools I can utilize for myself to navigate my emotional/mental realm.

I have only had a few session with Andrew so far but he makes me feel comfortable and it’s easy to share my feelings.
