Angela Simbro, LSCSW, LCSW
About me
I am clinically licensed in Missouri and Kansas with several years of high level professional work experience. I am formally trained in Trauma focused approaches; EMDR; ADHD systems and support; Motivational Interviewing; Clinical Wellness Coaching; Clinical Treatment planning for individual, systems and communities; Safety planning; Zero Suicide intervention; Cognitive Behavioral Therapies including Dialectal, Developmental Disorder, and Trauma focused modalities.
First and foremost everything I use is focused through a trauma lens. I start where the client is at and look at safety first. Then, I approach through the wellness model while using the Integrative therapy most appropriate for the client needs. Somatic therapies and psychoeducation are most common while implementing talk therapies. Once a treatment plan is established I find I use a holistic blend of CBT, DBT, TFCBT, Acceptance and Commitment, Behavioral Activation. Strengths Based, Family Systems, Expressive Arts, and more depending on the needs of the client.
I have a great deal of experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, finding motivation, ironing out self esteem issues, and building confidence. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Angela Simbro. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I have worked with a few therapists over the years and none of them seemed to get me. I always felt like I was telling them what I needed or how my brain processed experiences, and they just gave me the same ole, textbook activities or standard advice.
I never felt that they actually helped me process any of my problems, they just wanted to try and summarize or generalize them. I never felt like they helped me actually process the entirety of the situation. I have to understand and analyze to fully process. It’s just who I am and how my brain works and all of my previous Therapists didn’t allow me the space to do this in a healthy and safe manner.
Angela took the time to understand me first. She got to know my brain, how it works, thinks, feels, analyzes. She also took the time to find out what is important to my personal processes. What resonates with me. What works for me. What level of complexity and depth my mind needs to see the full picture before coming to a conclusion I can be content with. This really made me feel seen, heard, and safe.
I always feel comfortable speaking with her about anything. If Angela doesn’t agree with my view or my approach to any situation, she isn’t afraid to challenge my thinking. She asks me questions and provides insight that I may have been missing and she makes sure I understand her reasoning.
When I am struggling with something, she sends me links, activities, or makes suggestions about what I could do to help with my process. This helps me think outside of the box. Having the additional resources and information is very helpful for me to learn and find peace with my own decisions and any boundaries I decide to set for myself.
When I am in a state of avoidance, she checks in and makes sure I am keeping my mind on track. She will send me a message when she hasn’t heard from me, send me evaluations to keep me on track with myself. Angela makes me feel cared for. It is comforting that she cares enough to check in and let me know she is there if I need her.
Overall, Angela has been a great fit for me. I have gained so much insight, confidence, understanding, and awareness from her approach and never ending knowledge. She is a very smart, compassionate, empathetic, caring and strong therapist.
I am very fortunate to have found her when I needed her. She has changed my life in a very positive and powerful way. 100/10
